Hmm, disconnected all the lines to it and the unplugged the injectors, still won't lift up and out, yes I did double check on the lines and there are none leading to the chamber, this is really starting to annoy me and I have tried yanking out out and still no luck, what did I miss?
I never pulled it out to clean it mate. But there is a how too remove your plenum chamber how too somewhere in the forums if you want to actually take it off to clean it![]()
Oi Mr. Eggs, some advice please.
Ok you know V8's? I have one of that type of car and it's lots of fun.
I suspect it might be getting a lil dirty on the inside after I have thrashed it for 83,000km's. Well not thrashed but if you call me a grandma you'd be wrong. Sydney air is very polluted, you know.
So my question: My SS's L76 6 litre has a slightly different set up to your VX. Your pretty nifty how-to has inspired me to clean out my SS's nose whilst copycat-ing you to get instant celebrity status on the internet (again). The thing is as I have never attempted this before, and seeing I will give you some credit for the up and coming masterpiece of mine, do you have any suggestions???
Only the only suggestion: Don't be a cheap scape and buy the service manual. The answers you seek, are in there.
What I'm actually trying to say is: I have no ####ing idea!. However I assume the principle is very similar. Remove Engine cover, remove throttle cable, throttle body, then top of plenum. How hard can it be? Then yes, write up a very funny how to. However I must implore you, if you are a woman, do none of the above and take it to a mechanic![]()
We all go through these stages. Not last week I thought I was a badger
does anyone smell fish?
because im lazy anyone on the gold coast do these services ? or anyone wanna make 100 bucks hahahahahahahahahahahaah
stroking is fine but id rather be blown
I might be up that way in April around easter... Drive to brisbane and I'll do it for free mate![]()
If you dont have a vacuum handy you can do what i did and stuff rags down each runner so that you dont get any big lumps of shit in your intake
Good idea that one. Pretty sure you don't want this kind of shit in your engine![]()
when i got to mine there was about 3-4mm of crap in it and was causing the engine to stall cause that and the oil from the PCV was getting in the IACGood idea that one. Pretty sure you don't want this kind of shit in your engine
The reason i did it was i was getting lumps of the stuff and the last thing you want is that getting stuck on a valve seat or something like that... much easier that having to run a vacuum cleaner out to your car
Get a girlfriend... Or a mother, whichever is easiest to live with. :P
neither is easier to live with lolGet a girlfriend... Or a mother, whichever is easiest to live with. :P
I love step 1, sometimes i do step 1 all day![]()

Great write up mate, funny as f*** and really helpful... good on ya.
Gonna do mine soon i think car has done 145 *** and probably never been done
would it be similar when cleaning the ls1 intake?
has anyone had experience with that, and what's entailed in that?
or is there a post done on cleaning an ls1 intake?
being that i am on my mobile i can't search using the jc app. or if i can i haven't figured it out yet lol.
LS1 would be different, but the principle would be the same.
Actually, true story, the other day I thought, oh it's been about 6 months, I better clean it again, So I drove down to repco, got some carbi cleaner and drove back. Then while the engine was still HOT, unbolted it, and sprayed it and all the crap just like 'melted' off... Was pretty cool. Dunno how good it is for the engine. But yeah. Did that
