Hey Guys first time at a "How too" please be gentle....
Ok so i have a set of G2 AU Wheels that the clear on the outer rim has cracked badly(see photo 1) and i want to use the wheels.
Tools Needed:
Time (at least 2 hours a rim)
Spray Bottle filled with water and a drop of dish washing liquid
800 grit wet n dry paper
1200 grit wet n dry paper
A can of bright shine or other alloy polish (I like brightshine little mess)
Ok start by placing the rim somewhere you can get around it , I used the other 3 rims as my stand
Grab your 800 paper and start rubbing...lol
make sure you get ALL the clear off other wise it will look like a bucket of ass,
just be careful you don't rub off any paint you want left on the rim.
After a bit of rubbing you will end up with something that looks like this.
try and keep all your rub marks going the one direction take your time to clean up marks like this.(see the little scratches).
after your happy and you have all the old clear off its time for the 1200 paper,
Its just the same deal as the 800 just make sure you get all the rub marks going the same way.
Now after your happy its time for polish,
This part is where you get to see how good of a job you did with the 1200 paper...lol. after a good coat of polish and a really good buff you should have something like this.
Hope that helps someone ...... Cheers Darren
What sort of clear do you apply to stop the rims oxidizing and losing the shine?
Good write up mate.
I like brite shine too but mine has gone. Where did you buy yours?

I dont use any clear on my wheels, you have to give them a quick rub over with polish after washing ,
That why i like brite shine its a piece of piss to clean with.
But to answer your question you could coat them an epoxy clear but its only going to crack again and you will be left starting from scratch
to recut the wheels .
I got 2 new cans left on the self ...lol
but i have found another good wadding polish too its called "Nevr Dull" same as brite shine just in a silver tin...

Lol, wish I seen this a few months ago. I paid $250 to have 4 rims fixed because the clear was cracked exactly like yours.
Thanks for the reply, I'll try to track down some brite shine.
