Hello All,
I've noticed that a few people have been asking about custom gauge setups for vx/vt commodores, so I decided to have a crack and make one.
So this is my build thread!
First of all a template is needed;
Then its time to cut out and measure up you're gauge holes;
Then sit you're cut out inside you're console piece to make sure everything lines up and nothing needs more cutting;
Next, place you're console piece in the car with the timber cut out and hot glue them in place when you've got it in the right spot;
After its been tacked down, take it out and glue it all in with some liquid nails then test fit to be sure (note it may look awful now but all will be fixed in time);
I accidentally forgot to take a pic of the next step but all you need to do is bog up the surround with some body filler then keep sanding till nice and smooth and desired shape is made. (note; this step will take a while, it took me a good couple of hours to get everything right)
After sanded smooth give a good think coat of primer filler that you can sand down to get rid of any blemishes, tiny holes etc;
Then once done, chuck a coat of paint on, wait to dry then fit you're gauges and see how she looks!!!;
Hope there is someone out there who will benefit from this thread, thanks for taking a look
