today i changed the oil and filter in the vt as i had to change the rocker cover gaskets which i will cover later.

parts needed:
1) oil of your choice (i used pernrite full synthetic 10w50)http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-071.jpg
2)oil flush of your choice (i used nulon)http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-069.jpg
3) cheaper oil of your choice (i used sprints 15w40)http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-070.jpg
4)oil filter of your choice z160 is the gen3 filter(i used ryco)http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-073.jpg
5)degreaserhttp://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-072.jpg
6)sump plug washer (black rubber ring thing)
tools needed:
1)rags
2)oil tray
3)15mm socket
4)breaker bar
5)oil filter tool
6) empty oil bottle
7) car ramps or jacks
8)funnel.

i used car ramps because i am lazy, whilst car is level add oil flush to the oil through the oil filler neck on the drivers side rocker cover, run car as per instructions on the bottle, nulon stated to run the car for 10-15minutes, i ran the car for 9 as bearing failure can occur if you run it too long.http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-077.jpg

drive car onto ramps or jack up the car, undo the oil filler cap, position the oil tray near where you assume the oil will flow using the 15mm socket and breaker bar i undo the drain bolt on the sump which is also on the drivers side, catch the oil with the oil tray, http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-078.jpg when the oil starts to slow down a lot, undo the oil filter using the oil filter tool, i have patience so i tend to leave the oil filter half on while the remainding oil drains, when the oil slows right down i take the oil filter off and turn it up side down, most oil trays have a nub thing to drain the oil filter.

when the oil draining is complete, do up the sump plug and oil filter there should be no resistance until almost the end of the thread for both the oil filter and sump plug, tighten the oil filter tight enough not to leak but not too tight as with the drain plug, refill the engine with the cheaper oil, run car for 30 minutes, you are better taking the car for a drive but its up to you.http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-078.jpg

allow the engine to cool for a bit but remember the oil will drain better whilst still warm but donbt be stupid and assume the engine oil will be cool enough straight after a long drive :/

now the car is still warm but not hot, empty the oil tray into the empty oil container, jack the car back up, undo the oil filler cap, position the poil tray near the sump plug where it looks like the poil will flow undo the drain plug again, try not to drop it in the oil, http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-078.jpg catching the oil with the pan again with the oil tray, when the oil slows down undo the oil filter and remove (or leave it half on to let the oil drain), now have you got the sump plug washer? if you do great other wise happy fishing :/
wait for all the oil to drain, i left mine for 2 hours as i got bored......

replace the sump plug washer, http://i1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg559/slidin32high/2012-05-31-081.jpg now i have always been taught to use old engine oil so thats what i did so use the old engine oil by dipping your finger in and smearing some around the filter rubber o-ring and the thread, replace the oil filter, tighten to specs, replace the oil sump plug, now fill the engine with your new oil.
now i knew myself i was going to use the whole 6litre bottle for a specific reason, i would advise the 5 or 5.5l litre method. pour 5l into the engine, jack the car down and start the car for 30 seconds, then switch off, or start car and remove off the ramps and check the oil with the dipstick, use paper towel only, dont argue just do it (if you have to know, paper is collected by the oil filter, towel fibres dont wander around the engine they find a place and stick there generally any way) the first time you check the oil it will be wrong so recheck and add oil if nec.

wont let me upload photos for some reason so i will try again tomorrow
