After learning the hard way that the VR/VS level 2 cluster is NOT compatible with the VP, I had a good look over the two of them and noticed that on the VP level 1 cluster, it had the contacts there for the level 2 stuff (tacho one side, fuel/temp opposite).
After removing the gauges from both clusters, I carefully scraped the the green film off all of the contacts (I used nail scissors but, you should be able to do it with a small blade screwdriver)
Then I punched the holes out in the centre of the contacts (I used the nail scissors once again.. there's probably an easier method though)
Next, I installed the new gauges
Reinstalled into car, tested. Works a treat!
