This "How To' explains how I made the fuel tank flap/door sit flush with the body.
Others may have other ideas, but this worked well for me.
This is how it looked before.
Depending on how far it sticks out will depend on what thickness shim is needed.
For my fix I used a piece of 2mm scrap plastic.
This is where to glue the shim onto the inside of the flap. This is where the catch sits when the flap is closed.
I glued the shim into place using contact cement. Using a tooth pick, I coated both surfaces and let it dry for about 10 minutes before sticking the together.
Using some tweezers or similar, carefully place the shim into place as shown. Make sure to place it just behind the little circular cut out at the front where the catch engages the flap. It's important to get it right the first time as it is difficult to remove. I've used super glue before but it didn't last.
I let it dry completely for a couple of hours before I closed the flap and now it sits nice and flush.
