Just a quick "How To" on changing VZ alloytec oil pressure sensors, very common on these cars.
Pretty straight forward, easy to do at home instead of getting ripped by a workshop.
So This VZ come to me with an engine light on
I checked the Codes with the tech2 and sure enough it had a oil pressure sensor Range/Perfomance code in it.
Which is so common that i am confident enough to not carry out any further diagnostics and just go ahead and replace it.
So here it is
All you will need for this is
- A new sensor, they range from 50-120 bucks.. i get them cheap as chips.
- A 1&1/16 deep socket
- Easiest with a flexi head ratchet
Locate the oil pressure sensor directly under the oil filter housing.
Disconnect the plug and loosen the sensor,
Remove and replace the sensor, Very minimal oil will drip out, use a rag to catch any oil.
(This had no oil in it as i was servicing it anyway)
These do not need to be tight, just nip it up with the ratchet.
Dont forget to plug it back in
Disconnect the battery by undoing the negative cable by the little 10mm
Leave disconnected for 10 minutes and re fit the cable.
There you have it, engine light gone
