Just a quick and simple service on a VZ.
Having a boring day so making some "How To" threads to help some people out, possibly save some money.

So i have a VZ Executive that has come to me for a service

So first things first, Im just doing a quick oil + filter change to this, along with a flush
Also done something else to this which can me found here

What you will need
- New oil filter
- Engine flush (optional)
- 6.5L Oil (using 5w-30)
- New sump plug seal

- 15mm ring spanner
- 24mm socket and a breaker bar
- A funnel
- Drain tray

This VZ (Being an alloytec) had some nasty sludgy oil in it.
To help extend the life of the timing chains i suggested an oil flush in which i got the go ahead to do.

Empty entire contents of "Crank Case Cleaner" into the engine and allow to idle for 10-20 minutes.

Once completed, undo the 15mm plug on the front of the sump, if the car is low drive it up on some wood. It is best on these to keep them as level as possible OR front end facing down so maximum oil can be drained. This is the reason why i didnt jack the car up.

Now using a small pick or flat blade remove the old seal from the sump plug and replace with a new one.

Place your 24mm socket/breaker bar onto the oil filter housing and undo the cap, these can be really tight.

Replace the oil filter element and the housing cap seal.
The element just pulls straight out.

re-fit the filter to the engine.
Dont over tighten these, they dont require much just a nip up.

If you havent already, plug the sump back up with the sump plug.
Again, dont make it too tight.

Fill the engine with 6.5L of oil of your choice, i'm using DexosII 5w-30 on this car as requested.

Start the car and let idle for a couple of seconds, turn the car off and check the oil level on the dip stick.
When the oil level is correct put the engine covers back on and enjoy your freshly serviced VZ

Its a good idea to check the following on every service
- All exterior lights
- Under the vehicle for leaks
- Tyre wear
- Brake pads + rotors
- bushes
- Play in the steering components
- coolant quality
- check all levels
- Exhaust for rust or damage
- tyre pressures
- tightness of wheel nuts

*Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years regardless of km

For reference the oil filter housing should be tightened up to 25nm for those with a torque wrench.
