Hi Everyone.
I am not responsible for anything you attempt your self, You have been warned ! Please Note i do not know how long it will last ! should be good for up to 3 years apparently
So, Your 10 yr old Commodore weather shields around your windows are weathered, Sadly my car is out in the weather all the time, so it gets damaged quickly.
You could replace them with new ones from holden, About $40 each, I did replace one but less than 2 years its already starting to weather, Even with all the protected sprays, so whats the point in spending that kind of cash to not only have to replace it again.
So here is the result of PLASTI DIP.
If you look around you can find them for $20 a can.
Tools Required.
Pasti Dip BLACK
Phillips Screw Driver
Wax & Grease Remover
News Paper for spraying
Paper Towel
As you can see my strips have cracked and look like Sh*t.
Step 1.
Remove Window rubbers, Remove the 1 screw found here. Be carful these can bend and they will never be the same again. Once screw is removed, start from the screw corner and pull directly up.
Step 2.
Clean away, Use some wax and grease remover to ensure a clean surface.
Step 3.
Apply a light coat of plasti dip, wait 10 Mins between coats. I applied 4. Allow to dry for 1 hour.
First Coat
Coats 2 & 3
Step 4.
4th coat, Check the finished product, Should look a little like this.
Step 5.
Reinstall into the car.
Step 6. Have a beer.
I hope this helps some fellow members, This will not only restore the look but can protect for up to 3 years from more damage being caused, and if it weathers faster, peel it off and apply a new coat !
Cheers.
