Gearbox feeling a bit notchy or making noises ? might be time to drop the gearbox oil and put in some fresh stuff.
Im not responsible for any wrong doing just making a little guide on how I did it my self

The car has to be on a flat surface to make sure the gearbox is filled up properly

Also good idea to wear old clothes , trans fluid is yuk

Tools Needed

24mm spanner or socket
Jack
Jack Stands
Small Hand Oil Pump
Drip Tray
Oil 75w-90/85 semi synthetic
Nulon Smooth shift (optional)

Start by jacking up the car and placing it on jack stands

Get under the passenger side and you will see 2 Bolts

Undo the fill hole to let the air into the gearbox, and to help push the oil out the drain hole.

Place a pan under the drain hole and undo the bolt , and watch out as the oil will come out pretty fast

Mine was pretty black

Drain all the oil and do the drain plug back up , nice and tight.

Use a hand pump to pump the oil back into the gearbox through the fill hole

Keep going till the oil starts to spill out the fill hole.

The gearbox takes around 1.8/1.9L of oil.

Now you can put in the Smooth shift treatment if you want, its optional

Do the fill plug back up and the do it tight .

Lower your car and you are done.

Clean up the mess

Thanks for the reminder. I should really do mine some time. For some stupid reason these are supposed to be 'lifetime fluids' so I'd say most VZ manuals would be pretty murky.

Good write up Trayner. You've just added another bloody thing to my to-do list, and I love it!

What claims does the 'Smooth Shift' make? Noticeable difference since changing the oil and adding the treatment?

Yeah mine had a little bit of goldy colour still in it but was pretty black and a bit of sludge build up on the plug

haha thats always the way ay.

Just lubes the box up a little bit more , bit less friction when changing gears . It was only like $12 or so , so cant go wrong
Benefits
Reduced friction and wear
Smoother gear changes
Quieter operation
Extended component life
Reduced oil leaks
Improved extreme pressure protection
Residual lubrication during lay-up periods
Corrosion protection
Reduced operating temperature
Reduced energy consumption in industrial gearboxes
