Hey guys, below is a link for the VZ two hole mod.
Pretty straight forward.
I take no thanks for this, and not trying to steal the authors thread, but quite a few people want to know how to do this. I was searching for a while to find it, so now this saves people searching.
So here it is.

When I finally get my car, I will be doing this asap
Mods maybe make this a sticky?
would it be possible to do something similar to a ecotec vs? and would i need to move the water bottle in front of the airbox?

Hey i just did the 2 hole mod for my vy s1 s. Just thought i'd let other people out there wanting to do it to their vy as the vz airbox is slightly different. I initially just did the mod the same way as vz with the added hole next to the snorkel (for vy, obviously the snorkel cannot be replaced with a pvc pipe).
So i left the snorkel in tact and created another hole beside with a short pvc added so that it sits just behind the coolant reservoir. Put everything back together and took it for a test. And i have to say i was really dissapointed after reading about the results from vz mods. So i thought to myself what the hell, if i ***k it up it means i'll have no buy a new box.
Put a new hole and pvc through the side of the box (passenger side, opposite side to the engine). I guess the pcv probably needs to have about 150mm coming out from the box.
Once again i put it back together and tested... Oh well lets just say i was kinda not expecting much but its great. As other posts have said the roar from the intake just keeps making me put the foot to the floor constantly. I dunno about performance wise, not a significant gain but seems to be more responsive. Best $3 i've ever spent
So good luck vy drivers...
My First Car - 2005 VZ SV6
ive done this to my car and think it makes a difference, check out this thread, he's posted pics for people to see whats going on.
So the VZ originally comes with a 90' intake that gets the air from some where else on the car and this guy has replaced his with a ram tube..do you reakon he bought the ram tube from somewhere or made it himself? Will it make any difference if the original 90' pipe is still in place along side the second hole?
what can you use to cut the pipe down to size?
the 90mm PVC
I used a circular saw, a hack-saw would do, i figure the best way would be to use a drop saw but i couldn't be bothered waiting, i cut it then used a grinder with a 100mm diameter wheel and just kept going til it looked straight.
If you go to a local harware (not bunnings) they will probably cut it for you and will cost about $3.
i did this pipe today and also replaced the 90 degree bend with a ram tube and i can hear the differance, cant say i can feel the differance but i can notice a change to fuel economy, on a 35km stretch i drive every day i average about 11.2ltrs/100km and today i did it at 10.4ltr/100k which is lower than it ever has been before.
id like to see how it sounds/feels with a K&N filter
im going to do this on thursday with a mate, i'll do a boefore and after video of the sound and a video of taking off and reving to 6000 so i'll see if there is a difference.
I feel privaliged to have my thread quoted, cheers Will!
Just to add I hacked up the MCAI shroud a bit more as the bottom of the shroud was pushing against the coolant pipe, making the radiator shroud difficult to put back on as the coolant pipe had to be pushed into place to line up, and the hack solved that issue.
Also, don't use that blue stuff, loctite 243, because it didn't seal at all. In the end I wiped it clean (the 243 reacted with the spray paint so wiping it got rid of the paint and 243) and used loctite 401 instant adhesive to seal it up in a flash.
Also, the flange is pretty easy to make, I ended up firing up a burner on my dad's bbq to warm up the PVC pipe and used a series of glass jars increasing in diameter to push it against. To finish it off I dipped the pipe in a bucket of water to set the shape fast.
well i did this mod yesterday with a mate.
and holy crap!! What an awesome bang for your buck mod, started the car up and sounded normal when idling, but as soon as it gets some revs it sounds so much rawer than the standard VZ vaccum cleaner like noise. Took it out of a drive and it just wants to rev so much more and the induction roar is awesome. Driving to school this morning the road was a little wet from rain a couple of hours earlier, went around a small round about, got up to about 40km/h and then just put my foot to the floor, the car just drops back a gear and the wheels were just spinning for about 15-20m, then it did it again about 2 minutes later. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face with a cricket bat!
I took some videos but im having some techincal problems, might have them up later though.
I've got a mate with a VS 2000 edition Ute, is the 2 hole mod possible/worthwhile on his car?
ive done a custom intake mod on my vy works wonders
