You are a champion. Last night 9pm going to work police pulled me over. Indicator clicking & Headlights hi beam when indicating & stuck on hi beam. Breath tested/licence check all ok. Explained my dilemma. Domonstrated effect. Police very understanding. Suggested replacing VT Indicating stalk on that model. And a search found you at this site next day. I can do it thanks to your clear instructs. And great idea re hi beam fuse while waiting for part. (Just gotta find the part...sure I will cope.) Again many thanks champion. By the way, no fine, no ticket, no points...great cops.
    Best wishes

Absolute legend! Bloody indicators weren't working and I hate going to those bloody rip off auto electricians so thought I'd give ago myself. Cost $40 for a brand new stalk with cruise control and had no probs installing it myself.

Mnay thanks for your help Ozzie. I have managed to replace the stalk on my VT II in 25 minutes without any problems. New stalk with cruise is only $45.00 from the local auto store. The new one did work for about a day but now I have a different problem; the indicator does not go up to indicate left turn. What would cause this? By the way when I changed the stalk I made sure that the wheels and steering wheel are straight. Thanks a lot.

The screw underneath the steering wheels on mine is so tight it won't move and I'm stripping the thread of the + head!
    Great write up though.

    Default help

I bought a "genuine" stalk of eBay and had a go at putting it in today but I can't get it to go all the way in so it clips into place, I also can't get it back out....any ideas?

Thanks for an awesome write up.

I have a cruise control issue with my VX Acclaim Series II. I read somewhere that it may be the indicator stalk (cruise light comes on, but cruise doesn't engage).

I went to Just Commodore Spares, picked up a brand new second hand stalk, had it installed within 10 minutes. Unfortunately it hasn't solved my problem, and I now have a spare indicator stalk, but damn it was easy thanks to such an awesome write up.

My search will start properly now I've registered here. Thanks a million for the write up.

aussieakito, the stalk design you really hate the look of are VR-VX Series 1, when the Series 2 VX came out Holden introduced the new stalk design, which is used up until VZ.

To answer your question, Yes it is possible, I've put VX-VZ stalks in my VT (SO much nicer!) But they don't much up the same when connected, you need to rewire new looms for the VX-VZ stalks. As far as rewiring goes, its pretty straight forward, crimp/solder blue wire to blue wire, red wire to red wire, etc. etc.
