Default Undoing fuel lines at the firewall

    G'day

There was a question on the VT forum about how to disconnect the fuel lines on the ecotec that run to the firewall from the fuel rail.
There is a special tool to use, that you can get a kit from supercheap or repco around $15, but what if you dont have one of those handy, or just don't want to spend $15.
I made a tool out of some plastic pipe that I found in my junk heap. It was a piece of beer hose from a pub.
The pipe has to have a 2mm thick wall and an 8mm inside diameter. The beer hose had a 10mm inside diameter, so I sliced a bit out of it lengthwise.
I cut a piece 20mm long and clipped it over the metal fuel line.
I pushed it in and it worked great.

Remember you need to de-pressurise your fuel system first before attempting to remove lines by removing the fuel relay and running car untill wont start. Also it is a good idea to blow the connectors out with compressed air to remove any dirt build up.

I made a mess of the fuel lines in my VS by not knowing this. All fixed now.

    Regards
    Chris
