I can't believe that the boffins at GM would give an engine a name/code without it meaning something,, the bosses name maybe? or maybe "long stoke". I dunno but it's starting to bug me, and to top it off someone just walked past my car and asked what LS 1 stood for!!i nearly smacked him!

I think they are gasping at straws ferg. Lingenfelter is an aftermarket modifier who nonetheless comes out with some potent stuff, but i just can't imagine GM naming an engine series after him.

Lingenfelter has been working with Corvette for a very long time, so I suppose it's fitting that the engine is named after him (the company)
