Default wheel specifications

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if the stud patterns on VS commodores are the same as other series. Does anyone know how new a wheel I can use eg. can you put VX wheels on a VS? Sorry if this is a bit of a newb question.

Thanks,

Spaced

I'd say so. Stud pattern isn't usually too much of the issue - offset can be the pain.

Every model Commodore has the same stud pattern. What has changed is the hub size. VT onwards have a slightly larger hub, which means that earlier wheels won't fit.

You can fit VX wheels to a VS, but they'll be sitting on the studs instead of the wheel hubs, which isn't a good thing. Wheel studs are not meant to take the weight of the car. The hub is meant to do that. Many people have snapped studs this way. Not a good thing at 100km/h...

You might be able to get some sort of spacer or adapter. I don't know because I've never had the need for them. Ask a tyre place.

It is the position of the wheel centre (depth wise) in relation to the outer rim. Wheels with a positive offset will sit further apart than wheels with a negative offset. I hope that makes sense.

some alloy wheels might be able to be machined to accept the slightly larger hub, but check this first with your transport authority or an engineer
