Default Performance Upgrades

Hi There,

I have a VN Calais....

I want To know What Performance Chip To Purchase, to output the Maximum performance....

Also I had an idea of Putting an Gen III V8 In The Calais,

Just Wondering If This Would Be a wise investment - Due To like weight Issues and compared to The New Commodores having a Gen III already....

Thanks Heaps

Welcome to the forum, try talking to greenfoam in the VN-VP section. He customises memcals(chips) for VN's (not sure about the v8's but pretty sure) and last time i checked they were free. As for the Gen3 in the VN im no expert but would think it would be very expensive+difficult to do but anythings possible with the money and it would be awesome but i think it would be cheaper and just as good to upgrade the 5litre as you can get some serios power out of them aswell.

Default Performance upgrades

Hi,

Like Metal_Man I also own a VN Calais and was just wanting to know if an upgrade im thinking about would be worth while.

I am thinking about putting a K&N air filter along with a cold air intake, extractors and a bigger muffler. What I would like to know is would this be a wise investment talking performance to money comparisons.

Your help on this would be greatly appreciated,
Thankyou
Dazamaz

Yes these mods would be worthwhile and given money wise they are good investments. Thse mods mods wont give you a big increase in performance but its a good start. As for the "bigger muffler" wont do much for you performance wise but you can get a sports muffler so you get the louder and beefier exhuast note especially with those extractors.

There's a VN with a gen III in it somewhere around here, the guy reckons it's one of the easiest engine swaps you can possibly do and from what I remember it's running 11 or 12 second 1/4 miles (pretty sure 11's)

5.7 litre v8's the gen III gets lots of power increase just on some headers, re map, dyno tune 3" maf, cai but at the end of the day its all about cost and my particular thoughts would be go the vn -vs 304 injected motor less dramas, better sound and cheaper to work on and fix. v8 powa!
