Holden Commodore Speed Alert/speedo
QUOTED FROM EEGGS.COM
Many Holden Commodore's (Australian Automobile) mode since the 90's come with an electronic "speed alert" unit. It goes beep and flases a high brightness LED if you exceed the preselected speed. I'ts designed to let you know when you're speeding.
If you press and hold the up and down buttons just before starting the vehicle (let them go after the engine is running), the usual pre-set speed point on the LCD display is replaced by a real-time digital speedomiter readout. You can compre the digital readout with the analogue speedo in realtime.

yeah that works gr8 in the vt, just hold the mode button and the up arrow as you start and it makes sum stupid beep beep noise and then accesses diagnostic mode, dig speedo, tacho, engine temp, year of manufacture plus sum other crap, good for showing off with other than that not much real use. + on the vt u get a trippy light show as the last sequence will test all the guages and lights (speedo sits on 100 tacho on 3K and all the lights cycle through) there was a post a while ago which explained how 2 keep the dig speedo and stuff onn all the time, for those who arent satisfied with the analouge 1... all in all a bit of fun

While it's nice to have a digital readout, the warning light flashing constantly is a bit annoying...

Digital Speedo
If you really like Digital Speed readout in your VT or VX, any Holden Dealer can enable the Digital Speedo in about 2 mins with Tech2. (You loose Speed Alert feature) All other features remain unaffected.

You can turn it on yourself if you hold the right buttons...
There's a right up on SC, I'll try find it now.
Had a ilook, but can't find it again, will look again later.

You can TEMPORARILLY enable it by holding the mode button and one of the other two with the ignition off and then start the car. You also get a whole lot of other stuff like coolant temp and others, but you loose the feature when the car is turned off. With Tech 2 at a dealer, Digital Speed can be permananently enabled and all you loose is speed alert.

Okay, there is a way to turn certain VR/VS ones on permanently. The way to do so is
Hold, UP, DOWN AND SET, all at once, and turn the key to on (Or just start the car) wait for either the LCD to change, or the red light to go out, release all three buttons, and then press set.
Some VR S2 WON'T do this, and SOME VS S1 WON'T do this.
