Default Vs motor on Vn Gearbox

I have a 4wd hilux with a Vn commodore engine and Auto gearbox. I am looking at upgrading the engine to a later model VS commodore engine. The Auto is modified to mate to the hilux running gear so i dont want to change it.
My question is will a V6 from a VS which originally ran a manual tranny work on this motor? Has anyone done this on a commodore? I also have the VS computer etc.

This should be pretty straight forward,

VN auto wasnt computer controlled the VS on was, secondly the starter motors are different between auto and manual, when you get the engine try and get the starter motor and you will be able to sell it to the V6 manual people for a reasonable price.

I think the manual PCM/ECU should work just fine on the VN auto box as the engine wont be getting/readings sending signals to the auto.

cheers
Scott

Thumbs up plenum chamber

A question regarding the plenum chamber on the VS V6. MY VN V6 in my hilux sits much lower in the engine bay because of thye size of the plenum chamber. My hilux runs triple shocks at the front and has a strut brace which fits between the two sides. In order to gain clearance on the VS V6 i am curious as to whether i can decrease the size of the plenum by fabricating a flat plate instead of the dome topped cover. Does anyone know if this will affect the running of the vehicle in any way?

Gav I think the total height of the motors will be the same, the VS engine might just look taller but the actual block is shorter than the VN motor because it was designed to fit in a front wheel drive, it has shorter pistons, if the plenum is taller it might work out about the same, messure it before you go chopping and welding. You should be able to run a VS manual or VR manual computer in it, or a VN computer even

I have had excellent results running an ecotech on a VN ecm, the timing curve needs some adjusting as they ping from 4000 & upwards with a standard VN memcal.
the last one i did was in a navara ute & made 119 kw atw

Cheers Rob
