Another Cunundrum

There are 6 (six) people in a room. There is 6 (six) apples in a basket. Everyone in the room takes 1 (one) apple each. No one takes 2 (two) and no one takes 1/2 (half). They all take 1 (one) full apple, no more, no less. But 1 (one) apple still remains in the basket. No one puts their apple back in the basket. How is this so?

The last person to take an apple left it in the basket and took both the apple and the basket???
