    Default Dihydrogen monoxide awareness

People all around the world are exposed to dihydrogen monoxide every day, yet most governments do little or nothing to protect us from this dangerous chemical.

Side-effects from exposure can include the following:
    1. excessive sweating and vomiting
    2. causes severe burns in it's vapour form
    3. accidental inhalation can cause death
    4. it has been found in the tumours of terminal cancer patients

And from an environmental point of view:
    - it is a major component of acid rain
    - contributes to erosion

And closer to home for most of you, it severely decreases performance of your car's tyres and brakes

Reply here if you might be interested in signing a petition to control or elliminate the use of this dangerous chemical in our society.

While it is a major concern, there is such little of it here in Victoria i dont see it being an issue. In fact the reverse is true...

Yes, while the issue in Victoria is not as serious as it used to be, this is a worldwide problem. And the last few days here in melbourne in particular have shown a sharp increase in dihydrogen monoxide related incidents

thought about moving this to deleted posts, instead, moved it to joke section, albeit a very bad one.

I remember this, I actually got quite a few people with it...

I'll see if I can find the full version, was very convincing for sheeple.

    Edit:

To: Major governments all around the world.

This petition is for the complete ban of Dihydrogen monoxide.

Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.

    Dihydrogen monoxide:
    - is the major component of acid rain
    - contributes to the "greenhouse effect"
    - it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
    - contributes to erosion
    - accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals
    - may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes
    - has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients

Despite the dangers, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:
    - as an industrial solvent and coolant.
    - in nuclear power plants.
    - in the production of styrofoam.
    - as a fire retardant.
    - in many forms of cruel animal research.
    - as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.

Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal.

The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation." In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use.

    Sincerely,

    The Undersigned

The mention of 'acid rain' and 'military' is what sets most people off.

I knew I'd seen a full one somewhere, but I ran across a less-convincing one today and changed it around a bit
