yeah well i was just waiting at the lights at the anzac hwy and south road intersection when the other lights went green, a greenie yellow (you know like the option on the BA xr8s) old ford coupe (bout a 32 model) blasted out from a truck across the interestion and i just had to laugh cos it was seriously RICE, lemme see other than the expected extra trim on the outside, the outrageously lo-profile tyres and aweful colour scheme, by the engine noise it was a 4pot turbo with loud blow-off-valves, i mean the ricers do enough destroying jap cars (yeah i know i drive a jap car but its not riced up) but they have to now start on a classic rod even if it is a ford.
Anyone else in Adelaide seen this atrosity about i mean it cant be missed![]()

There's a "rally car" getting around Northern suburbs Melbourne, maroon or brownish sort of colour, stickers all over it, big wing, racing stripes, you name it..
yeah theres tons of cars that with all the crappy rice stuff, but really what i didnt expect was a 4pot turbo with bov. these rods usually have a v8 under the bonnet

That's true, it's a shame even if it's a F*&D
yeah i know big shame, but i gotta admit it totally blew across the intersection i reckon it must easily pull a low 10 or high 9 quartermile but im no expert in that area

What the hell is the knobhead think he's doing, should be strung up by the short and curlies.
unless the dude had rockets attached to his car im sure he aint pullin a low 9 lmao![]()
It went like it did, but like i said its not my area of expertise (thats being a smartass) but with how it took off across anzac highway that was my estimate of lo 10 to hi 9Originally Posted by PhatVN

The whole idea of rods is to be different...how many thousand rods have the boring, seen-it-all-before old motivation of either a Chev small block or a Cleveland?
I have seen judges and the public attracted like flies to anything out of the ordinary at street rod shows. One car that used to do very well years ago was a Model A four door with a 2-liter Ford engine in it. It wasn't the power that attracted viewers, it was the unusual power plant.
I have always had a hankering for a '32-'35 Ford four-door sedan, with something like an Ecotec or maybe even, shock-horror, a powerful four-banger of some description.
Aerodynamics are another interesting point: how many people know that the drag coefficient of a '35 Ford coupe is something down around .35? Quite a lot of modern cars don't even get that...
I would predict that a lot more younger rodders are going to start going for more modern powerplants in thier rods...a troll of any of the Jap import wreckers will turn up some unusual and powerful four and six cylinder engines which are very light. With petrol only going up, anyone building something as an everyday driver will start to shy away from big V8's.
Flame-proof suit fitted and ready....![]()
Yeah i seen e FX/FJ holden at some car show a while back & guess what it had a 13B rotor in it. I dont think the old holden is a classic rod but same sorter stuff.
Im a true commy boy!!!
