The importance of capital letters.

In the world of hi-tech gadgetry, I've noticed that more and more people who send text messages and emails have long forgotten the art of capital letters. For those of you who fall into this category, please take note of the following statement: "Capitalisation is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse". Is everybody clear on that?

I worked with a bloke in Hong Kong about 5 years ago who was a computer science graduate from India. He was handed a laptop, which he turned over, looked at quizzically, then placed on his desk. He called one of his subordinates over, who demonstrated how to open it and then turn it on. Problem not entirely solved.

He sent an email to his boss back in India. Due to the caps lock being on, THE ENTIRE EMAIL WAS IN CAPITALS AND HAD NO PUNCTUATION. THERE WERE A NUMBER OF THESE SENT BACK TO A VARIETY OF PEOPLE, BEFORE SOMEONE CONTACTED THE UNIVERSITY GRADUATE AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE OVER USE OF CAPITALS WAS AKIN TO SHOUTING AND EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE.

Education and intellect make no gains in terms of ability to adapt to the modern world. Unless you can think laterally and have the capacity to ask for assistance when you are lost you are a waste of space.

But in all seriousness, commars and correct punctuation is key when writing anything.

It seems these days that no-one knows the art of this.. how sad.
