Not quite a joke, but interesting.....
Three men go to stay at a motel, and the man at the desk charges them $30.00 for a room. They split the cost ten dollars each. Later the manager tells the desk man that he overcharged the men, that the actual cost should have been $25.00. The manager gives the bellboy $5.00 and tells him to give it to the men.
The bellboy, however, decides to cheat the men and pockets $2.00, giving each of the men only one dollar.
Now each man has paid $9.00 to stay in the room and 3 x $9.00 = $27.00. The bellboy has pocketed $2.00. $27.00 + $2.00 = $29.00 - so where is the missing $1.00?

well if the bell boy got given $5 and he pockets $2 and gives the two men a dollar each the he has the missing dollar in his pocket.
that was the easyest puzzle ever!!!
You have actually counted the $2 twice. The men have paid $25 for the room and the boy took $2 ie like a tip, therefore $25 + $2 = $27.
3 blokes paid $10, minus $3 seeing as they got $1 back = $9.
3 people x $9 = $27, with $3 change left over and $2 the bell boy kept
$27 + $3 = $30. remainder of $2 that bellboy kept. There was really $5 change, just the bellboy kept $2, so $30 - $5 change = $25
$25 + $3 leftover + $2 the bellboy kept = $30

the room costed $25 literally, but the men paid $27, and the men received $3 back, so $25 - $27 = -$2 meaning the men are owed another $2, and that $2 was kept buy the bellboy. so the $25 fee + the $2 the bellboy kept + $3 change = $30
E Series
and as mentioned by the others you do count the $2 twice.
$27 payed + $2 kept by bellboy = $29, then add $3 the men got back = $32, minus $2 because it was counted twice = $30. you can look at this in a few ways

sorry for being confusing and blabbering on. that was a good brainbuster or whatever you may call it.![]()

Actual room cost = $25...the money the bellboy stole also came from the men, he stole $2.
They paid $27.

Okay, the way to work it out is simple. the hotel has $25, each man was give $1 and the boy kept $2... 25+3+2=30.. there is no missing dollar.
Off a math website:
Let's give each of the $30 a number from 1-30, keep track of each individual dollar, and see how the problem works.
Dollars numbered 1-30 are given to the manager. Then he wants to give $5 back, so he keeps the dollars numbered 1-25, and gives numbers 26-30 to the bellboy in the form of a five dollar bill. The bellboy splits up the five to get 5 one's: numbers 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30. He gives numbers 26, 27 and 28 to the customers and keeps numbers 29 and 30 for himself.

27-2=25 ha ha ha
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.
Even in our sleep we happen to be right.
