Gotta tell you guys this... as much as I cherish my VK, always make sure there's water/coolant in the radiator, oil in the sump, water and cleaner in the windscreen washer resevoir (spell check) etc, all the little niggly bits that get irritating..
My father went out for pizza delivery as he does on a friday night, got a phone call early all I hear from mum is "is it driveable.. ok call if you have more trouble" instantly I think it's been hit.
Old man gets home and told me that there was a serious tick/nock in the engine.. so I check the water.. bone dry. look at the temp gauge, way past the Hot mark by now all im thinking is :b: - leak somewhere. This being about 11pm now I couldn't be bothered looking for more possibilities, just ended up putting it to an overheat - put more water in for a quick fix.
Mum takes it to the radiator place up the road and by this time the water is boiling (place is no more than 2-3 minutes away). Ends up being at the mechanics looking at new thermostat as a possibility and maybe cracked head.
