The damage caused to the Commodore is horrifying. The ballast loaded into the car would represent a reasonable passenger load and 100 kph into a solid wall is the sort of impact that could occur on any highway if the car ran off the road into a tree.
I knew the early Commodores were not a rugged body but that film shows just how weak they were.
To all you pre VN owners out there....good luck! (and I guess VN/P owners too - your cars were not much better.)
You want to try a VY into a concrete wall at those speeds with that much sand in the boot and see if it's any better (I bet not). Nearly 400 kilos of sand isn't going to stop in a hurry. This was a destruction test and they got the result they wanted (it's not a crash test)

It cant be all bad.....the boot area remained largely intact....now theres proof for the missus that her being in the boot is the safest way for her to travel....

At the end of the day, if I was going to be in a high-speed crash I'd rather be in the VC and get slaughtered, than be in a VZ and break my ribs on the seatbelt, break a leg on the pedals, break my face on the airbag, and spend the rest of my life a cripple with a ruptured disk.

I don't think you could survive that much deceleration no matter how many airbags or how much titanium the car was mad from anyway. We are only designed to be able to heal from a 40km/h impact at most (with a weight of 75kilos) (100 meter sprinter speed into a tree:P )
