Should have got him with a HSV with a revhead behind the wheels. Problem solved - no more chicken, no more worries.

    Feel sorry for the driver.

Nah if it was a HSV, the article would of read something like this....

A 40-year-old man who was innocently struck down by a hoon driving a high performance vehicle causing critical injury to the poor man.

The South Morang man was hit by a Holden HSV as he was crossing the road at a pedstrian crossing just before 1.30 PM (AEST).

He suffered serious head injuries and a broken arm, and the driver attempted to flee the seen before a high speed pursuit started with police, where the police officer apprehended the hoon.

He had been playing "Knock down a pedestrian" around the school as a dare, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old man, was arrested an remains in custody.

His passenger, a 19-year-old man, thought the whole situation was rather humerous.

Metropolitan Ambulance Service city team manager Shaun Columbine said the man was left for dead when paramedics arrived.

"The driver of the car is a careless hoon with no respect for the law or other people around him, he is a menace to society" he said.

"It was totally unexpected. He was on his way home from work, crossing the road at a near by pedestrian crossing innocently when he was struck down.

"(The driver) was in a quite emotional distressed state infear of losing his licence, and was worried as he had been heavily drinking only minutes before he ran down the innocent 40-year-old man." The driver also has extensive prior convictions and outstanding driving offences.

Police said they were dismayed by the 21-year-old hoons "utter stupidity" and said it was lucky nobody was killed.
