THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!!
When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning ... Uphill... barefoot… BOTH ways Yadda, yadda, yadda
And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay A bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it And how easy they've got it! But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.
You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!
I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, We had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue - do you even know what that is!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter, with a pen! ...Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!
There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!
And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!
We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your Imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!
You had to use a Little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it Came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the Channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons On Saturday Morning. Do you Hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!
And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids
Today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Reaper

i got that sent to me the other day . Being in the over 30 club myself i can relate to it .
I remember we had one of the first VCR's that came on the market . It was as big as a house and the remote had a 3 metre cord and it had to be plugged into it .
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't

I'm only 19 and even I can relate to that, I love playing space invaders and Pong! that game was awesome.
I remember having to wait till xmas, birthday, easter, before I got any new toys, thats why I was mostly good all year, my brother and sister get something new each WEEK, i'd hate to see the world in another 50 years, could you imagine todays "average" teenager taking care of this country? Like that freak, Corey, with those UGLY glasses, Australia would be more like Tortuga (Pirates Of The Caribbean) if he was in charge![]()
Hahah I'm 29 in Dec and a lot of it relates.
Music - having to wait ages until you scraped enough cash to guy and buy a cassette, or if you got lucky your parents bought it for you. I used to get my weekly metal fix on a local station. 3 hours of metal on Sat nights. Used to tape it as well.
The old telephones with the actual bell, none of this digital electronic stuff.
My cousin had a commodore 64, and I thought his slot car track was the best thing going when I was 8........
I remember getting up early as to watch the cartoons.
Microwaves, well my parents had one back in 1983, some monstrous National Panasonic thing............
Ah, and I remember my parents paying over $1000 for a Panasonic VHS with the barcode scanner hehe.
And if you lived out in the desert you got bugger all in the way of TV. ABC if you were lucky with blue screen cover to tone down the snow effect.
You took in football by ABC radio only.
ABC covered Bathurst with NO ADDS every 3 laps. The only good thing about the 70's
You played cricket on the public road not on XBOX.
No fat kiddies at school BECUASE you walked to school and could eat chips and drink soft drink with sugar in it as you needed the energy. Getting a lift to school in the only car the family owned was better than pocket money.
A financial crisis in America had no effect on us in Australia as we'd never herd of the place.![]()

Exactly, if it's on the internet, it MUST be truelol
but no not all kids get it better, only the majority that are thrown in our face by the media...But the world is ALOT different to what it used to be, and honestly, I'd rather not be here in 50 years if it continues this way...
thank u hahaha exactly what i mean like the diff is the VE has all these jazzed up features hahahaa lol were as the VC has diddly squat hahaa
cd..
dir
oh wait this isn't dos lol
thats my screen saver![]()
LOL,
but then I think while in some ways, we have it easier than you guys, we also have it harder in other ways.
And I reckon this issue of 'globalisation' plays a big part in it.
I reckon being a kid of the 80's would have been awesome. HQ-WB holdens were still kinda new!!!Lol, the music of that era was awesome, and all the other stuff lol.
And yeah, me too, I would rather have a VC over a VE. Only reason I might consider otherwise is the 6.0 V8.
Cars made today are crap. LIke mobile phones. When they were new, they were made well, to last a long time. Nowadays they make em really cheap (in quality too) and charge a fortune for them.
