Its in a pdf, but honestly worth the read. Not only did he get a ticket, but he got a reply to his extremely witty letter :-)

so did he actually get away with it? i know the letter from the police says its waived, but it seems a little too good to be true for him? fair effort from the bloke. they probably let him off for brightening up their day a bit
Haha! Gold.
Was worthwhile on his part. I assume it's real?

he sure would have, the officer failed to put the correct details on the ticket. a ticket is a legal document, if it isn't filled in correctly it's worthless.
there was a story a few years ago when the NZ government changed our drivers licenses from a life time to 10 year system. they (the government) forgot that your original lifetime license was legally binding and this young fella refused to get a new one. not sure what the full story is but he was done for speeding, he went back and wanted the speedcamera inpounded because he was going to use it as evidence in court (young fella was a law student) but cops refused. when he got home he realised the ticket had a error on it so he wrote the cops and asked them to correct it as he wanted his day in court. cops also wrote back and waived the ticket as it seems they didn't want it tried in a court.
