I'm worried about my car breaking (would be odd to think that nothing would break with high power levels)
i chose other; for this reason.
I feel my car is too slow and don't want to be embarrassed by speed difference of the faster cars
I'm worried about my car breaking (would be odd to think this in a slower car but you never know)
I rather no one knew the times my car runs
I'm just a bit nervious about it
Other, please post
Im Happy to drag people at the lights

im going to the strip first time next weekend cant wait but i am really nervous and there is hopfully gunna be slower cars then me there :P
I would be worried about it breaking IF I was going too, drag strip= insurance void. Easier to come up with bullshit if you stack on a public road i guess.
But I'm not a dragger, I'm a watcher.
I would take mine to a drag strip but I'm from Adelaide and we don't have 1.
Well there's a good 1/8th mile in Whyalla. But you also DO have a drag strip in Adelaide, 2 infact and good ones. Just that they aren't open
Behold it's beauty, why anyone doesn't buy now on this I have no clue

I have been taking my wagon down to the drags for the last year and had some really bad runs where the car has been taken home on a trailer. First run ever on the drag strip for me resulted in the car being pushed back past the staging lanes, cause i stalled it after the burnout and the car wouldn't start because the battery was flat. ( note to self make sure the car is in good running order before going again) I have spun bearings at the track, blown of cooler pipes and run 20 secs to the 1/8 mile (they stoped the counter at the 1/8 mile lol) agaist a 12 second car, I've had my ecu wire vibrate out and the car stalled on the line and wouldn't restart (pushed off again). But i always went home in a fairly good mood (well except for the first time) and was keen as to get back out there. I've had some really good nights at the drags aswell and couldnt get the smile off my face for days. Its a awsome feeling getting to end of the 1/4 after a good run and even better when you win, Its good fun racing/doing burnouts and not having to worry about being cought and losing your car, licence ect.

for me it's potential costs, such as possible repairs on panels, engine, and replacing tyres, buying a helmet and also the possibility of having to find a car trailer to get the car home on so that it doesn't get defected on the way out of the strip that makes me think twice about taking it down the quarter mile at this particular juncture. Also I would like my car to be a little quicker before I took it down to the drags

Why does everyone get concerned about breaking stuff? Most of you will be racing near standard cars....If you can't take a near standard car to the strip for a couple of runs without breaking something, there is something seriously wrong. It's not like your racing a 10 second car!
not all of us have a drag strip or track virtually in our back yard, closest drag strip for people in my area is sydney or brisbane a good 4-5 hour drive away.
the local "illegal" strip is 10km away, this section of road is about 5km long and straight as an arrow and not a tree for miles and is only ever used at night by street racers(it leads to the RSPCA and a concrete plant) people have tried to organise a "legal" meet on this section of road with police and the local council they dont want a bar of it.
people continue to use this stretch, there is also an old airport in this town that no plane uses of a night yet again none of the government parties will come out and play.
I'd be worried about doing some damage to the car. I don't have enough money to chuck all of the necessary aftermarket gear into it to ensure it doesn't crack it at the first go. I have faith in the old buick but not that much faith.

What are you talking about mate? It's no different to driving on the street in a near standard/standard car....What "aftermarket gear" do you need?
I went to the drags on Friday night (just to look) and not one car broke anything....There was even a bunch of 9-10 second cars, no failures at all.
These guys are really starting to push the envelope, so what makes you think a VN V6 would break something?
you went to calder last friday tim? i was there too

if there was one near me, i would use it! i'm sure most of you have floored your car until at least 100km/h, probably do it often, and nothing ever breaks, what's the difference in going a bit faster for a 1/4 run?
Hmmm, my clutch probably wouldn't stand up to it too well but they still make them i guess![]()
theres no need to be embarrased about having a slow car heaps of fun safe as and only real way ta see wot it can run. and it gets cars of the street doing silly shit.for 30 bucks race all night long . i do 200k round trip ta go racing and well worth it.
i no this sounds stupid to some, but id love for to go to a open day at a track on a wet day.
Would love to do some wet 'drifts' around corners legally. Im not a fan of breaking the law, so something so simple as a racetrack drenched would keep me preoccupied![]()

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
id love to go to the track..
but the price to get in i think is silly ... And also all the safety checks they make ya do is just insane, with all the helmets rollcages all that jazz.. Its just easier to find a straight road and go burning... Even though safety is good dont get me wrong, But if your like me and just wanted a once off thing then it seams silly.
