Default VZ SV6 or VZ Calais ? (Opinion Poll)

    Hey guys,

Looking at purchasing an 05 model of either one of the above. With the SV6 I'd go either Black or Red, whereas with the Calais I'd go Black or Odyssey (greyish). Both with Black leather interior.

Obviously both have their individual Pro's and Con's, but I'd love to get the opinion of as many people as possible as to their preferred ride (overall). Try and post the reasons why you voted the way you did.

    Cheers

I voted for the Calais, better options. I used to have a VZ SV6 but got rid of it after about 4 months as I wasn't really impressed with the car overall.

Calais fo shiz. I'd love a black one to do up as a weapon. Keep it looking stock apart from a nice set of wheels.

Oops my bad, haha sorry for calling you a man :-P

Calais is definitely classier, but the sv6 is cheaper and has a sportier feel, keeping in mind i'm a 20 year old male, though i'm not a hoon and appreciate a bit of class.

Calais over the SV6 or SS for that matter.
Calais is classy and no rear wing, look great in Black with big wheels.
And in the long run a lot of people are always upgrading gear on lower spec models why not just start at the top.

Would there be any difference in the speed of the 2?

Both feature 3.6L 190kW engines so I assume it'd just come down to which one weighs less....?

Nah no difference at all i don't think, one has a spoiler, the other doesn't?

    Correct me if i'm wrong

p.s. im talking power and weight wise, not interior etc

The calais is looking pretty damn sweet! Now just to find one in black with low km's. Think I prefer the calais without a spoiler anyway, stock except fix it up with some nice wheels and I'm set.

Will I look like a tosser driving a Calais with a sound system? :-P

Same engines, same transmissions (for the automatic), same power output.

Weight difference is probably pretty small, but the Calais would be heavier. Things like Climate Control weigh more than standard Air Con (I should think).

I've driven both, and nothing beats the ride and feel of the Calais. The SV6 was a nice car, but a little plain and uninspiring for me, and it seemed to lack the finish of the Calais.
But the SV6 is good value for money on the market at the moment, probably the only thing that'd sway me in the direction of the SV6. But ultimately, it's your decision and what path you want to take with it. Do you want a powerful, lighter track car, or a nice, relaxing classy cruiser?

    Something like this?

And with the sound system, hell i'd put one in mine, classy looking calais with the bonus of an awesome sound system.

Why not step back to a VY Charged 6 Calais.
But yeah I am a bit one sided having owned a VY Calais lol. (V8, Black, HBD kit no wing and CV8R rims)
Bloody missus made me get rid of it and buy a damn family wagon.

Makes a lot of sense, you can mod the L67 Super6 up to some serious HP if that is your aim eventually and even with basic mods the L67 will out perform the 3.6 alloytec.

Im considering the same choice lol.. The calais came in dark neautral colours rahter than vibrant ones.. so i want a calais for its goodies but an sv6 for either red or Turismo blue.

But what exactly is the list of goodies in the calais that the sv6 hasnt got? other than the funky cupholders.

Get whatever car NAAF would want.

Seriously tho, Calais FTW, the only con i can find is the SV6 has better rear lights, but other than that, calais wins every time.
