On another forum I was reading a for sale post about a 1.8ltr Turbo Audi for sale and in the post they had something about it being p plate legal due to being a luxury car, and it's something I've heard about a bit, but I've look on the rta website (NSW) and can't find anything about it, and it's not the on the list of drivable Cars list that I have.
Has anyone heard about this or could shed any light on it? As I'm looking at getting a V6 Calais but it's hard to find one how I want as most are v8 or supercharged, and IDE prefer to grab the best I can get.
Any help is appreciaed

Nothing Ive heard before..
but I'm interested because my dad just got an audi 1.8 turbo 2 weeks ago and I thought I couldn't drive it, It would be sweet if I could.
yes it is true...
if a turbo or spercharged car aslong as its not a v8 or higher, and under 125Kw per tonne... then you could possibly get an exemption, depending on ur previous driving records..... if you have lost it, then youve got no hope...
here is the website anyway..
Lower perfomance turbo or super charged vehicles : VicRoads
it also depends more on wether the car is classed as a sport of family type vehicle a vl turbo for instance is classed by vic roads as a sprots type.
And i dont think its "luxury" turbo cars but it is aimed at new turbo 4 cylinder cars that are fuel economical and enviormentaly friendly

would a l67 station wagon fall under this exemption as is is a family style car. im just unsure on the power of the l67?
