Default Commodore to buy for around $25k...

As title i am looking at buying my 1st commodore in the next month or so..

Now i want a v8 but i dont know the differances in fule performance etc between the 2??

I do around 200ks a week now and that at the moment in my present car costs me around 15 bucks (02 sensor is knackered though)

I fancy the R8 clubsport i think the one i like is the vy (2003) version....

Now just gotta figure out how to do a poll???

Gee its looking like a no brainer at the moment....

I dont really know the differances between the sv8 (mechanically) and the r8 clubsport apart from the bigger brakes and suspension.....

I'm not biased or anything but a VZ SS / SSZ should be close to the top of your shopping list. Clubby first ... VZ SS or SSZ second.

Newer model = more power, HSV = more power. So VY Clubsport R8.

As far as fuel consumption, I just have a 225kw V8 and with no second gear (auto) I get around 12.4L per 100km.
Of course I bet when you get one, whatever you get will be around 20L per 100km for the first month or so, if you catch my drift.

go a vt clubsport. IMO they look the best by far(depending on colour), and would be cheaper which = more $ to spend on mods to get it quicker than a vy.

    (just my thoughts)

Just to update this guys and girls i am looking at a clubsport z series tomorrow in bright yellow for $36k (i have saved some money since i last posted).

I now want the nice 6.0litre ls2 engine.....

Although the one i am looking at isnt a r8 version, and the salesmen is trying to convince me to take the stock ve ss out instead i am fairly sure the z clubsport is better hey???......

So whats the go is the z series clubsport better than the ve ss??

when your going from vz to ve the REAL difference is the look. im not a fan of the 6.0L engines i like my LS1's
i rekon you should have gotten a vy r8 they are the best hehe

but a 03vy r8 (285) 04vz r8 (297) has more power than a my10 ss (260) or ssv spec (270). but keep in mind all of this can be changed with a simple tune. more power and better fuel economy.
and i personally dont really like the newer look ve's

but remember its your car and nobody elses and if you love the way it looks and feels thats all that matters.
if you cant decide take them both for EXTENSIVE test drives to determine where you want to spend your money.

Yeah its a hard one hey...

I am thinking along the lines of which is best and which will hold its money best say in 3 years time which will be more...

I am thinking the clubsport is a winner shame it aint a r8 clubby though

i honestly dont know why they made different kinds of clubsports.. its supossed to be a top spec sports car (behind the gts) but there is still a base model
speaking of which have you considered getting an older gts with the C4B motor (300kw) VX VY around there.
they are a tad more expensive than a clubby but hold their value second to none. kinda like a monaro but i think they will be worth more as they are very rare.

i cant really tell by looks but going by the name i dont think so.. but that is an extremely high price for a vx ss as they are normally only 10 - 15k
ring them and ask. it will be on the build plate.
