Virgin FTW best plans out there.. $89/month will get you any phone you want (inc. iPhone4) and unlimited everything except for data which you get 4gb.. also they use optus network for coverage so its great. WIN

Telstra all the way - the NextG network is the biggest and fastest network in the country, and these days they're actually offering decent value - I'm on Pre-paid and use the Talk and Text offer, I recharge $30 a month and get 100 free minutes to any network in Australia (including landlines!) and 200 free texts in addition to my $30 of credit, its the bomb.

For the love of god stay away from OPTUS, reception and customer service just plain suck. Currently I am in my room with 0 reception.

Optus.. cos I am with them on 2 plans and haven't had any issues.

Telstra. Superior coverage to anyone else and have never had an issue with customer service and found the prices to be very reasonable (when I had private plans with them). We use them at work also so I'm fortunate enough to have a mobile that doesn't cost me anything to use.

Optus, I have always had good signal unless in a spot where there is ZERO reception for any network. And they have good value for money.

originaly i was with telstra and left over a dispute, went to vodafone crap service when plan was up went straight back to telstra.

I'm with Optus and get coverage in most areas. I'm also much more of a fan of Optus' plans over Telstra in the past. They're improving, but I won't be giving up unlimited text at no cost anytime soon. Only issues for me are the customer service (*shudders*) and the fact my mates don't text me because of Telstra's 1c text.

Been with telstra and optus over the years didn't like either of them much. Been with Vodafone for years now best value plans around

i've had a vodafone deal for the last 23 mths.. due for renewal, very good service , quick problem solving and call centre isnt in delhi ! wifes with optus, shop staff have been a bit slow but still relatively nice ... telstra are shocking and call centre is in calcutta or some 3rd world hole with american/paki accents that cant understand english and read from a poorly written script ! so, voda or optus !

You got a Vodafone customer service rep that wasn't in India? I had to call Vodafone a couple of weeks back, spent about half an hour on hold listening to a recording of LARA bitching on about crap, and then finally got put through to some woman in Bombay that knows more about carrying phones on her head than she does about speaking English.
