Default VE SS sedan or utility, you vote

Just set this thread up for people who would like to share there views on the VE SS sedan and utes for example likes and dislikes, pros and cons, which you like the look of better ect, i think this will help people in making the right choice for example myself, being a girl i had no idea of which VE SS to purchase.

It all depends on what you use the car for. You have to ask yourself some questions.

Do you need to carry more than one passenger?
Do you carry around lots of shit?
    ect ect ect....

As for looks I think once the ute is lowered a bit in the rear it looks tops but each to their own

    Simply put,
Sedan has more legal seats, more windows to clean, and more carpet to vacuum..
Utes are great for carrying sh*t..

but yeah, if you've got kids, sometimes the decision is made for you! HAHA

    Where is the Sportwagon option??

You buy whatever suits your needs and also what you like the best. I don't see the point of this thread, especially the poll.

Two totally different vehicles bought by different people for different (obvious) reasons.

...If you can't even choose between sedan vs ute, I'd hate to think about how you'd go making other decisions such as colour!

    ...I agree - pointless thread

ute = carrying big crap, no where secure to store stuff (shopping, sports gear, dead bodies), no more than 1 passenger so very impractical (unless grandma or mother in law likes fresh air), and is heavier and less aerodynamic so uses more fuel. looks good though.

sedan = cant carry anything large, plenty of space to store stuff securely, carries more people, is lighter and more aerodynamic. looks crap though.

wagon = can carry big crap (fold down rear seats are awesome), even more space to store stuff securely, carries people & stuff in any combo you want, is no longer in length than the sedan (like 5mm in it... common misconception that they are huge- they arent), and looks sexier than the lot of them!

Sportwagon best of both worlds.... most versatile of all shapes, and done right looks anything but a shopping trolley.

Btw- chicks in utes doesnt look right... sorry, dont mean to be sexist. It looks like 'she's driving hubby's car'. Unless you are actually a country chick and need to carry lots of hay or something, chicks in utes is one step from RM Williams and ball breaker. You wanted honest right?

Let me explain it to you in very simple terms the poll is there to see who likes what more, ive seen other polls on this website which are alot more pointless than this one, and the point of this thread is to discuss the likes and dislikes of utes sedans even the sportswagon, to discuss the good points and the bad points of these vehicles, a thread where someone can come and have a read to find out what style of VE SS may suit them more, for some people exspecially females it can be a hard choice, and when spending $30,000 or more on a car its good to be certain. Each to there own, I read a thread and if i think its pointless i keep it to myself i dont go getting all grumpy old bitter man style and right up how pointless it is lol.

Christ, no need to go all menstrual. In my post earlier, when I was saying 'you' and 'your' I didn't specifically mean you yourself, I meant whoever is the one making the choice. Post #8 by UFO pretty much sums it up. It's common sense.

Going to come across as VERY bogan - but there is nothing hotter than a chick driving a ute. There.. I said it! haha

Another issue is if you have a dog or not. Dog loves the back of the ute.

If I'm honest, the actual reason I bout my first ute (the last one) was because I don't drink and I FKN HATE being a designated driver to a car full of drunks. Don't have that problem with utes! My trays of my utes do get used - but they're not work hacks.

Also - you can get a mattress in the back - which is handy on long hauls.

Ute=cheapest(7k dif ssv ute/sedan) looks arguably the best, big boot(secure with hardtop) only 50kgs more than sedan. con=2 seats
Sedan=5 seats, secure boot, family friendly. con= price boot size
Wagon=boot, 5 seats, looks kinda best of both worlds. con= over 2t more fuel

Sorry guys and girls i forgot to put the wagon in the poll, you no what the problem is with these 3 styles of VE SS V, they all look fantastic in there own way so it makes it a hard choice lol, and any of the 3 are practical for me i have no kids and i hate having passangers in my car lol so one would think SS V ute would fit the picture, but then there is the wagon they look awsome when dropped on 20's hmmmmm for me its between the ute and the wagon, the only thing that bothers me with the wagon is that i like my car to sound like a true V8 so i would love to put a 3 inch KPM or Di Filippo full exhaust on it but it would drone like all shit what are your opinions on this??? i know with the ute there will be no troubles with the droning, also what is the handling like between the SS V ute, wagon and sedan is it even noticable?? OK i will shut up now LOL

    Thanks for your time

PS is there any way i can add wagon to the poll???

people try, but a 6 will never sound like an 8....

the utes still get drone, be careful with exhaust choice, or you'll need shares in panadol...

Ute all the way, no question for me at all as the sedan didn't even enter my mind when making my decision. I must say the Sportwagon did though, right up until I wondered how I would keep the inside clean carrying dogs and yard waste etc. With my ute I just hose the back out when done and it is clean again.

The ute can get a bit tail happy but then, that's pretty normal with utes, and in this instance, not a bad thing as it's all totally progressive and controllable (and stability control is excellent, if you want the safety net). The front end is set up the same as the sedans/wagons but the rear has slightly higher spring rates to handle the load - I'd class this a good thing, handling wise, as turn in is a touch sharper - still not breathtaking though - fe2 is nowhere near responsive enough for my liking and the sway bars are too thin. All in all though, it's very communicative (through the suspension, rather than steering as with all commies) and it's very much a point and shoot operation - as in you point it in, and it will stick. Just don't cheap on replacement tyres.

It does suffer from a bit of axel tramp but I think that's pretty much across the board. A few bushes and some good, aftermarket shocks will sort most of that out.

If you've driven an older commy ute, it will be a nice surprise as they're much better balanced. Even comparing to my old VY, this one holds on better. A lot better! Plus, the SS/SSVs have an LSD as standard - which is excellent!

Grab the ute and use the extra coin to mod it. So long as you get a reasonable exhaust, you won't have an issue with drone.

And there really is no better excuse NOT to take passengers! (my passenger seat is for food! haha)

Thank you very much TinSnips for this information, very helpful in making the right choice. Does anyone else have anything to add?? also if you own an SS V wagon or sedan please give info on pros and cons example handling LOL.
