Winding noise when I turn my car on

Hey guys ,

When I turn my VR on it kicks then makes a winding noise for a second then goes away again, It doesn't affect the car but it annoys me , it sounds like the fan belt but I'm not 100% , any body wanna have a guess?

That would be the fuel pump priming the fuel system. Without that noise, the car will not start.

In have the same noise when I turn over my car over but mine stops when I tell the wife to shut the f*#k up!!!!

Na it can't b the fuel pump cos it hasn't always done it , only recently started n it's coming from the front of the engine

It may be the starter motor not disengaging properly.

Yer that may b it because sometimes it's sluggish when I try to start it

is it a whine or a screech? if its a screech itll be the belts not getting grip
