i like both VL's and VS's and don't know what to do

Definitely go VS. Should get a decent one for that amount. Don't buy one off another p plater though.

vl's are harder to find in good un molested condition, make sure you inspect it very well, 5k should get you a nice vlc. but i'd just keep an eye out for both and see whats around for the price

For 5 grand I'm sure you can probably get a nice vs calais I'm pretty bias towards calais' though!

5 grand would get a vt.. Just look at as many as you can and talk prices and tell them you will pay cash.. Everyone loves cash

Go the VS mate, $5,000 will definitely get you a clean Calais or Belina. Just keep your eyes peeled and don't rush into the first one you see just because you want a car. You have to go through many a shit car to find a good car.

As much as I love VLs for a first car I would go for a VS. Get a VL later on down the track for project, or something.

The best place for a VL is in the car crusher. VS isn't that much better but I'd consider it the lesser of the two evils.

My family (besides me) have forever owned fords and never had problems my mums EF lasted 400 000 + before she sold it with the only things going whrong the water pump and starter motor. Maybe dont thrash cars and you wont have a problem?
