At the moment, show. I'm a P plater and can't own an 8. I also see no point in dumping money into my car for show, with the Ecotec.

When I get on my full license and have more cash, my emphasis will be placed on go.. But not at the moment..

agreed, the less money we spend on the ecotec means the closer we r to an 8, for me, an R8 should do the trick, god i cant wait to be 21

My mate's been letting me drive his VX SS Manual of late.. I hate it..

When I get back into my car, it feels like I'm not accelerating.. And I also have nothing to do with two of my limbs..

I'm cravin a V8 and a manual.. My auto 6 on Gas will have to do for now though.. I'm planning on my dream car as soon as I turn 21..

    It's worth it for me..

You reckon it will be affordable to run an eight in 7 years time... assuming he's 18 now ?

Possibly not... but insurance for an 8 (at 21) right now is no fun either.

I voted show, there's absolutely no need for a faster car which is going to be driven daily, IMO it's all about making the owner feel bigger.. sure I know there's benefits to be had like fuel consumption, life of the motor, being able to run unleaded or whatever that you get with some performance mods, but the amount of bloody 5.0 litres with exhausts I hear when walking down the street (on average 5) is just ridiculous, and you know the owners have no legitimate need to make their 5.0 litre more powerful, it's just so they can hoon about, attract attention (and it's usually always the wrong type) and be fulli sick!!1!

Now if it's a car that's going to be driven on the track, down the quarter or there's a legit reason to increase the power (towing) then they get my respect, otherwise I just can't see the point for a car to be worked off it's head just to get the groceries or it's that persons form of transportation.

But seriously, enjoyment. The flaw in that argument is that otherwise we'd all be driving around in Smart cars. There's something to be said about the enjoyment of driving a V8..

Driving my mates SS compared to my car is crazy. It's unbelievably awesome driving a V8.. I get the pleasure and would be happy to pay for it..

Oh yes i have to agree.. the s/c is so much more fun than the old ecotec... even though it's still only an auto the difference is huge.

I don't speed (mostly.. shh) but that feeling of being thrown in the back of your seat when you are having a play is just fantastic! Just need some new springs and the side-side action will be just as good

I dont agree... but each to their own...

My view is this... whats the point of having a Fully Sic Blingged Commo with big ass body kit...huge rims...Milo tin farting exhaust...etc etc...to make it look like a Fully SIC race car...ULEH... but then get dragged off at every set of lights by Grandma in her excell on the way to bowls ?

when really u can only do the same speed as me legally
so you can get to that speed quicker

    -> an opposing argument;
show shiny cars attract too much attention, whether it be from police, vandals, thieves etc.

i see no point having a spotless shiny work of art car, that's goign to get badged, scratched, bumped into at the car park, weathered, dirty, etc

shiny cars = belong at car shows.
fast cars - belong on the track

.. so what are we left with to drive? boring, dull, ugly slow cars?

My ideal car... looking like it came out of the factory (regardless of age) .. with some mild engine work.

I know it'll take a bit of work to get my car to either of those.. but i can dream

You've some very good point guys, show should match the go, but I wasn't getting at all those ricey stuff :P.. neons, nice tint/paint job, not necessarily a bodykit and she'll be right!

Regarding the enjoyment, I never even bothered to consider the point of view of the people who have to drive the car everyday, or if they're car enthusiasts or not, so I take a chunk of what I said above back!

For me it is go. Although show should come into it, as in how tidy a car is. The best cars are the stockies running a nice 11/12 second motor underneath that is as quiet as grandma's corolla. I'm hoping with my project that i ca have a very quiet setup. I guess we will see how it goes.
