forums added together......

hey everyone. just wondering what you all have to say about this.......if aussie holden, LS1, hsvforum, just commodores, and possibly other holden/hsv forums joined together, all on one server, united as one huge (and very organised) holden/hsv forum? i'd really love to see what it would be like. so ppl what do ya think?

I think it would be a failure.

ls1 is one of the best technical sites on the net when it comes to cars, so many prfessionals there. I'd liek it to stay as it is

I'm a member of almost all of them, each have their good and bad points which I reckon should never come together..

JC is heaps friendly but seems to attract more less technical members and people trying to sell stuff.
LS1 is mostly technical people, but it's only because they're really into their cars and they focus on one particular engine type.
Calais Turbo generally have poor spelling and grammar and feels like its undermoderated, and they focus on one type of car.
SC seem very tight knit and like a bunch of snobs, but they do have a magazine.

All have their good and bad points, overall I'd say JC is the best place, just because I feel welcome to be a member even though I have a crappy VB from the 70s. Keep them seperate (plus I think there's a conflict of interest between the administrators and moderators of the sites with each other)

Don't get me wrong, it would be nice having everything together, and a community that large could only be positive but the forum layout would become too cluttered, it would be easy to get lost etc.

imagine if Darren, Garth, Julie, Troy711, Airstrike, vlv8 (can't remember the nick) vystorm, all the other red labels fighting with the mods from the other forums.......worse than the last fight, with the rat.....haha not better spark up conversation about that issue...

It'd never work, too many people trying to make money and too many egos. What would be good is a search engine type thing that included only all the major forums, then we could find all the answers we need without going to all the sites and all the forums would maintain their seperate identity.

I like JC cause its smaller than most others. its not too big.
Everyone knows everyone etc (to an extent)
The others are too big and too strict etc, and the people are not as friendly as here on JC.

VK_308 I think you had better check your numbers....JC is the biggest commodore site around. I occasionaly pop into the other sections of this forum and find members that have been active everyday for a couple of years now that I have never even seen! We are the biggest commodore forum on the net!

it probably just seems smaller to me because i dont go in all of the sections too.

jc is the biggest forum around
jc has the biggest fan base
and we dotn have a magazine
we are a privatly owned forum which started up as a hobby all those years ago

i like jc the way it is, jc owns another forum, aussieholden, granted it's not that big yet, but we are working on way's to make it huge. even then it will remain a seperate forum, will eventualy go on the jc server but for now, it works the way it is

I like the way it is now. No offence to the LS1 forums, but even though it is a good source for information, it is too much of an elitist club. JCs is a much friendlier environment, and that is thanks to the hard work of Garth and Darren, and the moderators team they have on board. Most of us here are members of various forums but this is the one I prefer.

SC has been around alot longer then us, and also has its month magazine that it promotes its website in. I think we have done quite well considering.

couldn't agree more.


They also have members who treat other peoples cars asif their dirt.
One dude (not naming names, but his name refers to a CV8 and being a devil) smashed his car being a tool, into a VB, and said cause its a VB it doesn't matter about the car. Funnily enough, the same guy is the first to post in P plater threads saying they shouldn't be on the road.

i'm glad everyone else around this joint agrees that it's the most friendly place around...it really is. i'm happy to be a member of JC, i may only be 17, not have great knowledge about cars, and not help many people because of this, but i still enjoy being here talking to other commodore lovers about anything and everything, AND, i can ask any question and get an immediate answer. seriously, this place is "sick mate sick, subwoofer" and it's also "****in sick, this ****" as some people i know of would describe this place as..hehe

i've made more friends from ls1 than here. then again, there aren't many nt members on here.

but, then again, again, the ls1 guys accepted me even though i drove a primer grey vh commodore. i went on cruises with them in my car, and a few of the guys from other states show an interest in how i'm going with racing it. i guess it all depends on how you present yourself.
