    Exclamation LPG or not??

Well looks like the LPG rebate will be coming in, *looks for news story link for those unaware* So who would be interested in getting a gas conversion if there is a 2000 buck rebate??
    Cheers, Gaz

Price is the only thing stopping me from getting a gas conversion, so whats the deal with NSW, do we get this rebate or what?

Hmmm, I'm not sure how my Gen III would go on gas. The way I see it (someone correct me if I'm wrong) you'd have to compromise performance to get better fuel efficiency, and I'm not prepared to do that. So I'l be staying on petrol and paying the higher fuel costs unless someone can prove otherwise.

I love my cars and don't mind paying a premium for owning a performance car...

...btw, my next car will be a VE SSV!

The Service stations will have to add more LPG gas fillers or there will be longer lines for the LPG than there already is for cheap fuel.

I use the space in my boot regulary so its not an option for me.

And isnt the Gas excise going up in the next few years???

    Not me. Few reasons.

    1. Price of Taxi fuel is already going up, from what it used to be its risen considerably, and I believe it will continue as soon as everyone switches, demand for petrol will slow down if everyone converts to gas, doubtful but wishful thinking on my behalf.

    2. Cannot convert that easily, need to find a specialist and get all the bits needed for the power that I would eventually be chasing, possible, but I'm sure its expensive.

    And well, thats it.

Reasons why I would get gas, It is currently cheaper then petrol, and it has a higher octane rating then the best fuel you can get.

It has a higher octane rating yes, but it has alot worse economy and performance than petrol. You dont get as far on gas as you do on petrol, and you dont get there as fast either

For your engine, petrol is a much better product to run on in the long term.

Yeah the gas excise is going up in 2008 I think.. or 2009. So the government will be getting alot more money from LPG in the years to follow.

I don't know, GAS-747 is putting it really good power, and he's still doing it all on pump fuel- even still at the end of it he can fill up at 70c or whatever a litre and I'm filling at 1.40+ for premium.

But its just not worth it for me, and dual fuel conversions, I wouldn't even look twice at.

Ask Shounak what range he's getting on his VX seeing as its dual fuel. I'd do a conversion, but not in the camry seeing as boot space is smaller than a Commodore (VN+)
Back in the hope things have settled down...

Yeah the excise is meant to be going up 2.5 cents each year starting at 2009 untill 2011 where it will be capped at 12.5 cents from what i've gathered.

As much as I find the idea appealing, LPG prices will more than likely climb with a massive increase of cars runnin gas. Even still, for 500 bucks, I would do it

Well just for the record, I run a vr v6 on gas very econonical compared to petrol, shure you don't get the same Ks per liter as petrol but still heaps cheaper to run. depending on the price of gas at the time I am getting around 100 to 110 Ks per $10.00.

Theres a guy in north adelaide that owns an SV5000 and he's converted it to gas... That really shits me...

You're gonna love me then.. I've prettied up my car with mods and I'm on gas.. I'm concerned with show, not go.. Gas is perfect for me..

A full tank costs me $30 and when I want to give it a bit of a squirt with mates or whatever, I'll just switch over to petrol.. Despite being dual fuel, I can still whip a stock VT on petrol.. So on petrol, I've lost no power basically..

And about buying a V8.. My parents will be doing heaps of highway K's and lugging heavy items from A to B in a trailer. A V8 can cope much better with those conditions than a V6 can, but they don't want the huge fuel costs of an 8.

So they're thinking of converting to gas.. They'll lose a bit of power, but it's heaps more economical..

I think that should answer your question about "why bother?", if not, just tell me..

Thats a good point.. And thanks to Shounak as well. I still think gas should be left to 6's though, just a personal opinion.

But there is no excuse what so ever for the SV5000. A legendary HSV muscle car... on gas. You shouldnt do that to a legend.

The delorean in back to the future runs on veggie scraps :P

Within a couple of centurys every SV5000, you and me and most of what we know today will be killed off by time, things change you have to go with it. You might as well enjoy those SV5000's while they exsist because even if you keep them in a climate controled shed wraped in plastic time will still get them sooner or later. They might be down 5rwkw on lpg but it's still a much better fuel than petrol. If you can get it for free! well it's a no brainer, I'm pretty shocked so many people said they wont take the offer because that's really really misinformed and stupid in my opinion
