I had blue. I took em off cuz they weren't my style and I kept getting pulled over..

Your setup is actually illegal, because the source of the globe can be seen and can be said to "dazzle" other drivers. Neon setups are only legal (in Victoria) if only the glow from the neons can be seen.

Sides are ok, but cops would have a field day with the front..

Although if you only do it to show off when no cops are around it should be ok because they arent illegal to HAVE, just to USE. Off road use is legal and thats what you can say its for.

I'm not a fan of them on any car TBH, although they don't look any worse on a Commodore than they do on other cars.

I thought that you could not use them whilst the vehicle is on motion or running. Wiring it so it doesnt work when ignition is on would be the only good weay of having outside ones that are legal. Also hiding them behind bumpers or skirts are good ... its good to see the glow but not the tube ...

Yeah i know, im gonna fabricate a overtop cover for the front one...
    Don't have time atm though...
I went with green caus i got green calipers and discs so it about made sense.
pls i've seen so many other cars with blue n red ones so i figured to cause some controvesy and go green... Plus green parkers r the only ones that are legal because they are not emergency colors (so the copper who pulled me over said)

    Legality stuff:
in vic, as shounak said they are legal so long as u can't see the source of the glow (the neon tube itself) but only the glow...

Why don't you people acutally research this crap before you post it. Check out the Vicroads site - it is all there.

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrpdf...e/VSI%2010.pdf Page 29. The colour emmitted (from parking lights) shall be white to the front and red to the rear. Green parkers are not legal.

As far as I can tell the ADR's do not permit any other colors beyond white, red and amber to be illuminated on any non-emergency vehicles. I do stand to be corrected on this last point however please be prepared to show me the relevant part of the legislation and not just whatever bullshit that you "know" is correct.

As for not seeing the source of the light but the glow is ok - is that something like getting the "vibe"???? sounds like bs to me!

I even got a RWC, with the mechanic refusing to give me one until I proved to him they were legal.. Which they were..

I have Highway Patrol, General Duties Coppers and Vicroads staff who say that neons are fine whilst in motion, unless the source of the globe can be seen and/or dazzles other drivers..

    Think I'm makin it up?
Vicroads confirmed that undercar neons WERE legal whilst the car is in motion, provided the source of the globe can't be seen, just the glow.

I had a very by the book mechanic, who I really had to fight to give me the RWC with the neons on..

Neons on Commos are stupid. IMO

I mean we're all different and certain things appeal too us, but neons on Commos, doesn't do anyhting for me.

I guess neons on Falcons, would be dumb aswell.

    Whatever you want, I guess.

That document is now 8 years out of date...
Neon's are illegal by that, but we all know they are now legal in victoria...
Red parkers are the only color not permited to the front of ones that change color...
Pop down to your local vic roads or police station, have a chat with them, get the current VICRoads guide, then go attacking people.

That is the current ADR with respect to lighting and the most current published on the vicroads website. Just because it was published 8 years ago doesn't mean the legislation is out of date. I don't care what some person's opinion is of a regulation they probably are not familiar with just off the top of their heads. Your average police officer or vicroads guy behind the desk will not know (nor could be expected to) every detail of the ADR's.

"We all know they are now legal in Victoria" does not mean they are. Any person who spends 5 min checking out the Vicroads website will also have serious doubts. You show me which ADR that says different!

Mr Police Officer... I know that all the published information says different but it's true - really!!!! hahhaha good luck with that one.

Once again - please show me the relevant vicroads guideline or ADR involved. This should be very easy if it exists. Things like "but he told me so" - whoever "he" is do not hold water. Legislation and ADR's do.

Here we go,Jesterarts Neon light post.Where do I start, for one, neon light's have been around for more than 8 yrs,and secondly it's best not to comment on document's and the like that you know FA about.Neon setup's like that went out a long time ago,and for good reason.Best left to show car's,not some try hard with all the best intention's of looking cool.BTW as stated, they are illegal, once you have that drummed into your head, maybe you will think of something better to post.Look's shit.

man i'm not overly fond of outside neons, the green isn't a great colour. i said i like them though as i have LED lighting all through my footwells and i am waiting for UV lights to arrive, so i can hardly bag out coloured lights lol.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
    PM with any info.

You must be very slow if you thought this thread was going to focus on neon's alone.Inevitably people are going to grill you about look's,legality and legislation just to name a few.You have opened yourself up to critisism, and surely your aware of that.By the look of it, about 85% of people's reply's are negative,to those of slow nature, this mean's your light's are shit. From memory, your not one to care too much about the legalities of thing's,not only in relation to light's.Look's like this one blew up in your face,my sympathies are extended to you.And for christ's sake,do some research before trying to override the genuine opinion's of other's,or this will only exacerbate your plight.
