    Question Sound/Rims or.. OTHER?

Had money for my sound, had a setback, saving again, which mod for after the new year? i can't decide! i need new tyres... and i have a headdeck as is....

    Sound...

    2 x 12" Rockford Fosgate "Punch 2" 400WRMS Subs in a combined box.
Fusion 4 channel amp (not sure on the specifications)
    (getting these off my brother)
and adding my own monoblock (Rockford fosgate, not 100% yet)
and (4) probbably clarion or fockford speakers.

cost, about $2000 with install, i am paying my brother $500 for his subs and amp.

OR rims!!! (any of these sets)

    http://www.tempetyres.com.au/product...t=&part_no=256

    http://www.tempetyres.com.au/product...t=&part_no=261

    http://www.tempetyres.com.au/product...t=&part_no=262

cost, about $1500... plus whatever it costs to lower my car to suit the rims.
    probbably, 2000$.

Dont go VY SS rims... SOOO overdone!!! If its rims, the HP Design rims are the go.

Not keen on the Punch line of RF stuff... They are not actually made by Rockford Fosgate, but by small companies in asia. But its up to you really. I'd get the rims personally, but 19's... Especially on a VT.

I agree, sooo many people go the VX, VY, VZ SS rims... I'm thinking about the HP designs myself...

I decided to go the stereo first. I spent about $2500... Now at least I can enjoy driving inside the car until I can decide which rims...

Go for the 18's. If I had a choice, I'd get wheels first.

That third link for the mags, don't get those. They look crap as. I saw a set on a ute today, and they look like they are cheap and made of plastic.

    Wheres the performance option?

After that I'd go stereo, then wheels.

Thats the order I did it in.

Yeah the sound system was the first thing I did... Before I got an alarm. Had the car broken into and they had the subs half unscrewed but they took off (must have been disturbed). Poured EVERYTHING out of the glovebox and centre console etc. had my sports steering wheel off and left it on the backseat and my $400 sunnies on the drivers seat. In the end all they took was a box of condoms out the glovebox

i actually read about that in your post a while ago!

atleast your stuff was alright! i don't leave my car for long in public places but i do leave it outside school in the backstreets for usually 6 hours a day, that's when i'd be most worried. i live opposite a police station and court house, but still, people steal... its right below my window when i park it so i'm not overly worried during the night, but still... crap happens!

i think rims might be good first, because i know i can get lock nuts!! hard ones to get off

On the topic of Lock nuts, there is a brand called Gorilla Guard. They are a great locknut, they have an outer cover which just spins around, and the inner cover is accessible only with the lock nut key, so you cant get em off with a socket or anything.

Most standard lock nuts (Speedy etc.) can be taken off with a 22mm or 23mm socket which has been grinded back to fit inside the wheel hole... Hammer it on and take the lock nuts off

The gorilla guard ones are $100 though, but its cheap insurance!

Speaking of insurance, that's what you should be considering before you even think about pouring that much money into the car. From memory, you don't have any insurance.Secure some good comprehensive insurance, then insure your wheels. If you fit your wheels, and the car is stolen, well your well and truly up shit creek are'nt you?.
    P.S.And yes,without a paddle.
