    Default Turbo/Supercharged 6 or V8

So I got this idea from the Ford forums.

    It's a pretty simple question. Do you like V8s or Turbo/Supercharged 6s?

I personally haven't been in a forced 6, but been in plenty of 8s and that angry V8 rumble is what makes going to Summernats my favourite part of the year.

Nothing will beat the sound of a nice old v8 tho i would still rather a VL turbo over a v8... Isnt there enough room in the garage for a nice old slr5000

The poll is flawed anyway because turbo 4's are good and so are turbo V8's NA 4s and NA 6's are not so good

I voted V8's. Only because of the coolness factor. But the super 6 is pretty damn cool too.

oh sure she lacks poke and power but i like my 6, its got that nice growl to it, the 350z has it aswell, i mean dont get me wrong, who doesnt like the roar of an 8 and a four can sound good ( boxer engine ) but to me a V6 just sounds..... free spirited.

It is true that nothing beats the sound of the ol' bent 8, but I will be so bold to say I think that my super 6 beats a standard gen 3 for low down torque, and I do love that futuristic whine that turns so many heads. I can always see the looks on their faces... it says "wtf was that noise?!?!" lol

    I agree mate.

My 6 doesn't have much power and she goes pretty good, but I love the little rumble it makes, when I back off and down change.

I must stress that I am basing that on a few educated guesses. With present mods (10psi pulley and cat back enhancements) output is estimated to be well clear of 400NM at the 3200rpm quoted by redbook. I have not seen the dyno graph of a stock gen 3, but I know its peak torque is higher at 4400rpm, hence my assumption...

I must emphasise a few things though...

    a) Gen 3 would still easily do a faster quarter mile
    b) Numbers I have quoted for my car are estimated and not in any way accurate as I have not had a run on the dyno yet.

Theres no denying the gen 3 is faster, but I just love my super 6's get up and go... which I am able to use every day without breaking any laws and also the whine... I love the whine hehe.

EDIT: rockers, extractors, intercooler and kalmaker tune all on the wish list... one day when i'm not knee deep in debt.

V8 of course, but i swear they get quiter each year, like i love the sound of the old carb 350, 351, 440(charger) and really any 8 between 60's and 80's, still think the 5L has a nice little note to it, but these new gens arn't really makin much noise for what they are.IMO.
i pulled up beside one of the new VE SS's and he gave it a bit off the line and i swear i couldn't even hear him, you can hear me take off from the next suburb away and i have a completely legal exhaust, even stock it sounded heaps louder then the SS.
    anyone else noticed this?

    Yeah I've noticed it too.

Even my mate's VS Berlina 5L, with stock exhaust doesn't sound too bad, but Gen3s etc, just don't sound right.

The Ford BOSS V8s sounds good, for stockers though.

Still nothing comes close to the sound of a cammed carby V8.

No poll option required because its automatically assumed that they are the best by far Everyone would just vote for the forced V8.

Question is which is favourite out of the options given. but we all know they are pale in comparison to a boosted bent 8
