Yep. I smoke. Meh, I'll give it up one day. When I feel like it.

is it just me or is there a higher chance that someone will smoke if they are into cars? I have a LOT of hobbies and it seems that the car enthusiasts are far more likely to smoke than musicians or computer geeks for example.

The amount of exhaust you breathe in is like smoking anyway so why not. Anybody in the car industry, be it sales or repairs, seem to smoke more I've noticed. I smoked when I was 18, gave up because it got too expensive, that was when they went up to $3.50 a packet of 25's.

Hey gave it away when I was 20. $1.85 a pack at that time yeeeears ago!

Watched my father in law die from cancer (smoked for many years) - yes we all are going to die but the hacking morning cough. All that tar that should be on the roads not in ya lungs.

Having said that I still miss a game of 8 ball glass of drink and a smoke at the local pub.

    I haven't smoked now for:

Nine months, five days, 8 hours, 10 minutes and 23 seconds.

4453 cigarettes not smoked, saving $1,834.54.

Life saved: 2 weeks, 1 day, 11 hours, 5 minutes.

(I got a program on my computer which counts all that for ya - good encouragement in the first few months. )

I feel great now. Mentally more than anything - Yes! I've finally beat it and I'm not going back there!

It's a program called Silk Quit. This bloke at work (another quitter) gave it to me.

You put in all your details: when you quit, how many you used to smoke etc etc and it sits in your taskbar and counts away.

I found it very useful and encouraging in the early days of quitting. Now I just look at it every now & then and it makes me proud...

Are we talking about nicotine here? If so, nope. Tried a ciggy once and will never again. Don't see the point of smoking when you don't get high. And btw nicotine is classified as a "Hard drug" along with alcohol.

I reckon people who smoke are just wasting money!! Imagine how much money you could save in a year.

Well I like to consider myself a non smoker now, gave up on the day of new years eve and spent new years day and the following few weeks feeling like absolute rubbish.

The biggest key is finding something else to do with all your spare time. During those really bad times I actually found it somewhat comforting reading about those who have died from it.

As for the money saving? err yeh right where's that? Is just goes elsewhere without even thinking.

Although yes I have had a few smokes since but they have all been under the influence of alcohol (haven't been able to kick that habit yet) not that I drink that often anyway.

With 2 other smokers in the house it made the whole process down right impossible but I won in the end
