Some of the latest fords are quite good, it would have to be a really big price difference though.......But yeah something like an el xr8 for the same or lower price as a vs v6 would see me driving a ford

i voted no but thats not to say that i think holden is the be all and end all of the car world. i see myself as a realist i love the holdens and would prefer to own one over a ford, ive driven and owned fords in the past and something about them doesnt seem right... i dont know what it is but they dont make me feel like im enjoying my drive like i do in a holden. personlay my "dream car" is a rx3 coupe worked to the nines but i will probably never afford to buy it or get it to the stage where i will be happy. so i reside myself to the harsh reality that if i can afford the holden i want then ill get it, if i cant then il wait till i can.
    Cheers Pat

one of the only fords i would buy but its a nice car.
btw it would have to be a pretty frickin good price

Interesting this thread popped up ... lately i have been taking an interest in the fpv gt and gt-p .... i think they look slick and think i would buy one over the VE GTS if i had those kind of funds.

The holden holds more performance but the ford seems pleasurable to drive and more of a muscle car look about it.... Mind You, a VE SS came flying up behind me the other day and in the rear view mirror it looked menacing....

do not like any of the 80's and 90's fords though ..... i think my VR looks much better then its rival in 1995...

when you think about it, if ford wasn't around, it'd be holden versus bloody toyota or something like that. I know it's been said before but a long as holden and ford keep competing for the market and topping each other, the consumer will always be the big winner..

that said i did take a BA xr6t for a drive a little while back and was very impressed, probably because i'd nearly just died taking the ve for a test drive because i couldn't see a ute that was hiding behind the massive a-pillar.. but anyway

    Exclamation Does it matter?

Holden or Ford? They're both Australian, well at least the Commodore and Falcon, but they're both great cars. Personally, I would go for which ever had the most origional parts. My VZ ute is all origional and thats why i went for the Holden. No way would I buy a Japanese or European Sedan, I dont think they sould even be in Australia. The Commodore and Falcon are the only cars that we can really call ours. Whether it be a Commodore or Falcon, BUY IT!

I like many different cars, but most of them are out of my reach at the moment. If i could afford (hehe af ford) one then i'd get it.

I mean just look at the new FG's:

if anyones a real holden fan.. you would not even consider buying a ford!! its holdens enemy!! not too mention most falcoons (chooktins) are ugly as dog balls apart from BA.. perfromance wise i they are all roughly even.

love my 1990 bt1 and wouldnt trade it for a million bucks (about the amount its cost to repair and replace shit) but id love either a 1970 gtho or the new fpv turbo six.

So if there is no replacement for displacement, why is it BMW etc can create 3.5 litre V8's that go better than our 6.2 litre V8's?

Seriously, one eyed supporters are annoying, both companies make shit cars evenly

Just curious why you don't think that Japanese or European sedans should be in Australia?

Not having a go, just curious to know the logic behind this.

Personally, I prefer Holdens... not really based on anything other than I like Holdens. The BA are a good looking car and I am a fan of the xr6t.

That said, the only reasons my next car won't be a euro sedan are:

    1. Part and labour are mental
    2. The huge and primative LSx engines do sound brilliant in my books... and considering that an M5 is WAY out of my reach at the moment even though it sounds orgasmic... the holden will have to do...

Good point, I have to say having these cars in the market should push locals to make better cars. The main reason i switched to Jap is because the overall build quality and price was much better than anything local.

Im a holden man, always will be, but as long as its australian made, thats fine.

Older, more primitive EFI 5.0L's will always mean more to me than Chev 5.7L's or anything made in europe either.
