Default Ford v Holden, does it really matter?

As you all may know, i am now a Ford owner.

I realise this is a Holden forum ( the name says it all ) and some S.A. members have said " Why did you buy a ford, fords are **** ".

But when you break down the fact that the were both made ( falcons v commodores ) for the same market, have similar power ( V6 v Straight 6, similar price and similar reliabilty, they are not so different.

So the question is this, would you buy a ford if it was a better deal than the best Holden you saw? or would that fact that its a ford stop you?
    We got rep back, yaaay!

I'm also an alcoholic...i mean from SA, and doesn't matter for me either.

My cars have a theme. If i could make such a car using a ford brand then i would. Lately i've had an itch to get an AWD car, so was looking the way of Imports.

I dont care either. I mean, I prefer Holden. But I also like value for money. And if Ford was better value for money at the time, sure I'd get one.

I'll also add, I'd only get BA and up

I would have bought a Ford in a flash IF there was a Ford you could buy that gives similar performace to a 5 litre VN/P for the same kind of buy price and modification price. But no such car exsists. No one over on the Ford forums is anywhere near the go fast per dollar value you can get from a 5 litre VN/P. But if I was in the market for non V8 car newer than a VS Commodore then chances are I would buy a Ford, since I believe that the 6's the VT-VZs are not as good as the AU to BF's

thats true, there is more holden performance shops then ford.and when you look at the times, there are faster holdens then fords.im not saying fords are ****,there is just more to choose from in a holden "performance wise".

Once upon a time it meant something big red or blue of your in the **** house.. Today we need a rivalry between holden and ford still for one reason, We the drivers will win, Holden makes 6lt car ford responds, Ford makes 6 speed auto holden responds we all win, I get sick and tired of the bickering i sometimes get in it because i cant believe the crap people will say like they are a ****en know it all like they own your car and every model for every series that ****s me still because they have no intentions of buying your car or driving your car or make ever.

But now i cant be bothered with the holden v ford thing, I prefer to drive and own a holden, I drive ford's and plenty of them, I have hired a couple of fords i don't see any problem with that at all, But i like Holden commodores and that is what i will buy. But i draw the line at bagging another car to make mine seem better or cover my flaws by crapping on someone else's wheels, There are many that like to do this to try and make something better then it is. It's happen to me and it does still get me going nothing worse then some tool telling you all about your car from a chair because the next door naubours aunties brothers sister in-laws dentist's lawn mowers brothers kids son of 10 herd something funny from the internet from the oppositions most biased fan, So you know it's legit.

i see the secret message in this poll
why jd sold his MINT VC SLE to buy a pos FORD

your vc had charactor and was rare and unique..the ford is well just a boring ford

no way i would have sold a VC SLE v8 for a FORD pos

ive been a holden man since i could open my eyes but i do admit that i could possibly settle on a ford if it was a better deal.

i only got my vy a few weeks ago and the thought of buying a BA did cross my mind as i like the shape of them but as soon as i started looking dedication to holden did take over and i didnt even bother to open a door to a falcon, went straight to the holdens

i started liking holdens when i was young. this was largely the fact that i saw skaife on tv winning in a fast red commodore, and that dad got a new commodore every 3 years. then i inherited my vh commodore, and so i was always going to be a holden man.

however there are alot of good fords out there such as (gtho's gt's mustangs, capri's etc) and also new falcons ba and up. but (personal opinion) the falcons from 1982ish to the ba are hideous. the commodore models minus vn-vp's are all more pleasant on the eyes. i know im massively bias but even without the badges i believe id still think the same.

There is a mustang performance workshop and show room literally a stone's throw away from my house and jeeeeesus you should see the odd 20 mustangs they have parked out on the lawn everyday.

    Very VERY impressive indeed!!!

A car is a car to me. Ford, Holden, AMG, or Toyota. As long as the car has 4 wheels and goes forwards, it is a car for me.

I bought the XR6 because for the price, nothing holden made could match it with economy, performance and looks etc. As i have said, both Holden and Ford make great cars, we are blessed to live ina country that still produces powerful RWD cars for the bulk of a population.

It doesn't matter at all to me.... I love Holdens, but as you may know I own a Ford haha, and I don't think I'm a traitor to the Holden fans, both companies make great cars.

To me the Ford/Holden thing matters somewhat, i know i wont buy a ford anytime in the future because im a Holden guy, but if i see a nice Ford I wont instantly say its **** just because of the badge.

I voted no, under the assumption that we are talking about your average Commodore v Falcon. I wont ever buy a Falcon. If it was something a little special, like a Typhoon... Then i would consider it.

    Nope.

Both make great cars, and sh*t cars too. Seems loyalists think their brand of choice is absolutely perfect. Hahahaha got news for them, and it's all bad. Like those d***heads who think jap cars are high, and migthy.

I just find it sad when idiots from both sides compare their stock taxi pack 6 cylinders too each other, and bitch about who's faster, until the cows come home.

No one cares what's faster between a stock Executive or Futura. They're both sh*t in stock form. Most 4 pots are faster.

Unless you've owned/driven a fair amount from both camps, there's no point in trying to argue "What's better?" between the two.

It's all preference/experience anyway. I love my XA, because it's a great old schooler, but the Clubby is also awesome.
