    Default Do you like gardening?

A little while ago a member ask people to raise their hand if they like gardening, and strongly suggested there would be a deafening silence. The thread was closed and a few comments supporting gardening were deleted.
So i put it to you, was this member correct? Does NO ONE here like gardening?

I'm not into it myself, my garden is low maintenance but i still keep my lawns and edges tidy and weeds out of my garden bed.

Yes I do.... I propogate plants from stems as a hobby (my uncle has a million dollar Orchid nursery, and our family business irrigates plants so it's in the family....)

Depends on what works need to be done. I like renovating a backyard doing something big and different, but general maintainance like mowing the lawn or pruning is not my cup of tea.

I have one of the best young edible gardens in Victoria, I'd say its allready the best in the South West with rare fruits and unusual edible plants and tubers from all around the world. So yeah I'm really into it, my garden has about 9 years put into it so far. I don't bother trying explain to most people about gardening, it gets pretty deep and you have to reach that place by yourself when you are ready to understand it. But respect to anyone on here who is at that place

Yup I like to keep our gardens nice and neat. I'm really looking forward to moving next year into a bigger house with a bigger yard so we can have more gardens and even have a little vegie patch. My kids love gardening, I can give them both a pair of gloves and a little spade or fork and they have fun weeding well my little one just likes digging in the dirt but its all good. It will be good that the kids know where fruit & vegies and flowers come from and can be involved in growing them unlike most kids who just think they come from the shops.

I don't do lawns though, thats my hubbys domain

I got into the whole gardening thing about a year ago. Started a flower garden in the back yard and it is addictive. I am always out there now planting new bulbs/bushes etc and weeding constantly. Spent all day yesterday mowing lawns, got the whipper snipper out and then used my new toy - a blower vac. I think the neighbours hated me as I was blowing stuff everywhere and it was a windy day anyway - but I was having a ball.

    Default Garden...

    I love it.....
I have my standard roses, lavender bushes, Pansy's and petunia's for colour, Dahlia's for something different, and ficus standards as a feature....

Out the back, Silver beet, Lettuce, Squash, Zucchini, Capsicum, chilli, Tomatoes, and other assorted fruit trees.........

As with others, its a way of relaxing.........

I used to get very involved in the garden in my early-mid teens. Loved watching everything slowly come together. I used to collect spiders aswell, and introduced several species into the garden. Fascinating to observe. Leaf curlers, St Andrews Cross, orb weavers... but since then I havn't stayed in the one house for more than a year, and mainly then in flats and units, so the passion has gone.

I don't mind it, just like anything you get to see the rewards.

I'd much rather a green freshly cut lawn over a long dead lawn for example. Same goes with tree's. Growing your own fruit/veg, or herbs.

I do like it, but I'm too lazy to keep doing it as often as I have too.

Since we are thread digging I may as well join in

I'm certainly no Don Burke but I don't mind the whole garden thing, not much for flowers but veggies I love growing and even ventured into hop growing over the weekend.

You just can't beat home grown veggies !

I guess the poll settles my statement from way back when, we need a gardening section on JC now

Not particulary. I don't know how to mow a lawn, when i was with my kids dad he always did that stuff. So i don't know how to do any of it now that he left. But i like when i had a vegie garden. Til my 2 kids destroyed it lol.

i dont get into it to much but i dont mind cracking out the lawn mower and whipper snipper now and then.

I think if i had more time at home i would get more invovled in trying to grow a nice garden.
