Had to purchase a clutch spring a while back, cost me $5. Wasnt too bad, if it had have been for a merc would have cost at least $30.
Apart from the expense, the service is ok.
i always get great service from penfold, but i guess its because we paint cars for them all the time so they make sure they look after me when i call lol
i had a problem where my high beams wouldn't work, they took a look at it, and quoted $$$$$$, said it needed a new level3 switch block (the right hand side set)
i took it home, got that part from a wreckers, still no high beams, so i put the old one back in. a bit more looking turned up the culprit, turned out to be the fuse under the bonnet had dirt/gunge on the contacts, a bit of white spirit and let there be light!
i only have the hsv guy work on my car, costs a little bit extra but i know hes not gona fark with my pride and joy, and i always wait to talk to him too so he knows im not a yuppie with no clue. i'l service my car myself once warranty runs out or i slap on a big performance modhehe
I don't have problems with them, because i get my part numbers FIRST, then i go in, tell them the part number and to go fetch. It's when you start giving them part descriptions instead of numbers, things get a little complicated and hard for them.
Ferntree Gully Holden spare parts division are pretty on the ball though. Never had a problem with them. And the chicks at the reception desk are cute.![]()
Only used one dealer, and that being the Sale City Holden (obviously in Sale).
Spare Parts, excellent, they also do rare spares, they have on a few occasions told me not to bother with their or rare spares, as i can a better quality and cheaper one around the corner. They are not their to make a quick buck but to actually help you out. The guy their has spent hours chasing up parts for my VK for me, and then charges me less when i go to pick it up. Spare parts, EXCELLENT.
Service department, mum got her major service done their, and they done everythign they said, me and my brother inlaw (mechanic) went and checked, and yep good service, not to badly priced. Though they reset the air bag sensor as it had its VT anthem happening, a day later it was back and they told us stiff **** its not their problem. Cost 250 bux to get done, it hasnt been back their, mum chose to a local mechanic instead who was cheaper, turns out he hasnt replaced the oil filter in 30,000 k's even though charging her 3 times for one. Im now doing the services and anything that breaks i can fix.
ha cobez, i wonder who you are referring too?Holdens are great cars if you know how to look after them yourself. If not then you are going to get stung big time. The oil line in my engine got blocked and the bearings on the crankshaft chewed up the inside of my engine whilst on a trip to see my folks. Luckily(?) I was only 30 minutes away from a holden dealership and managed to limp her in. 2 days labour by one bloke (an apprentice) to fix it cost $1,280. You don't want to know how much the whole rebuild cost. Then he said i needed to bring it back in a week so they could check the engine, or the warranty would be void. I lived 400km away
. Was not going to happen.
Cheers,

had good experience today, ordered some VE parts today, none in stock at dealer they got them in the same day a couple of hours later and the parts came in under $50![]()
The Mad Dutchman
Complete ****.
Took my car to a Holden/HSV dealer in Wollongong with a power steering issue, and came out still with the power steering issue and bonus electrical problems. I wasn't getting anywhere with arguing, as they simply said the electrical issues were already there when I brought the car in. As I cannot prove that I had no electrical issues prior to them getting their hands on it, I dropped the subject. I told the manager to stick the power steering and electrical repair quote up his ass and walked out.

hmmm migh thave to drop in to FTG holden lol
are they open on saturdays?
Yep! Until like 12:00pm.
Cobez, i meant in reference to the "giving them part descriptions instead of numbers", as you told me in a previous post.
People seem to get 'bad service' confused with high prices. If they charge you a high price that you don't like but tell you they can have the part in within 2 hours, is that bad service?
Just like if you go to supercheap or autobarn and get the same part for half the price but the girl behind the counter gives you a posh beckham scowl and you have to stand around for 20 minutes to get someone to talk to you, does that make good service? I don't think so.
I've had mixed reactions with Holden spare parts but no different to anywhere else I've every bought parts from.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!

I disagree Scoots, price is a big part in service. In my situation I had no choice but to get my car seen to by them. They know this, and they take advantage of it. Then it stops being a service and starts being a scam under the guise of a business. The same can be said about people who come in for free service "under warranty" and then get lured into paying exhorbitant prices for extra repairs that aren't covered under warranty. Service is about respecting the customers and helping them. Not milking them mercilessly.
I use Sunbury Holden,they get me what i want,when i want it,and at their prices.I cant complain.
local holden service department where i was taking my car for a while i will never go back to after a few dodgy services and made up problems, i service it myself now. For anything major that i cant do, i take it to a little local guy who is also my neighbour, awesome guy, has helped me out alot!
The parts section at the holden place tho i cant fault, always helpful, same day ordering of parts quite a few times, and the rim painter there even gave me a tub of shadow chrome paint to touch up some chips on my rims one day!
Always get great service at warrnambool's dealership. Parts overnight and at discount rates so i no complain.
Dealers are stealers. If you know stuff all about anything mechanical then your at thier mercy.
parts are rip off, needed a new tesionser assembly cost $250....
I needed a new VT Power Radio Ariel $159 from Supercheeap and would have wait a week for it to come in and did not include a new bezel, was driving past a Dealership so called in they not only had it in stock it was under $150 including a new Bezel (the bezel was still a seperate part but still cheeper than supersheap) Sometimes (not allways) Genuine parts are cheeper
