Sleeper
Standout
A bit of both
Don't care
What do you prefer or own?
A Sleeper, blending into the rest that every Falcon and WRX driver thinks is just a stock standard Commodore...until they get a shock at the lights when you blast past...
Or a Standout, wanting to impress the crowd, your master piece, seeking all the attention and complements or putting to fear into every man and his dog.
Me, I like the Sleeper look. I'm not aiming for a show stopper or attention, just a car I'm going to enjoy driving with a few goodies to set it apart from the many Impulse SV6's on the road.
I'm talking about a stock headunit with phreddied outputs and new speakers sitting in the door mould hidden from nasty eyes. Stock mags, stock ride height but a decent exhaust and tune.
to me lowered wheels some sort of trick lookin paint and then add a few thousand horsepower
Eureka styles!
Clean and neat with a nice drivable package under the bonnet. Nothing way over the top

I totally recently had this dilemma
I decided sleeper with a wild motor- although it should look standard but very well maintained/cared for.. not a total dunger.. I rekcon it's just a lot more practical.
Pros:
- less police attention
- less thief attention
- less "you're a hoon" attention
- getting to see the look on the face of high-end sports car owners when they get cained by a "stock commodore"
- ability to run mismatched wheels & tyres etc, and cover with hubcaps.
- not having to worry about scraping everything on the road
- not worrying about cost of tyres (for those of us with stock 15's)
- not having to massively stress about pricy paint job
- not having to keep the car clean
- being able (in the case of a commodore) to have 400,000 other cars the same model and colour around to blame for that youtube stunt.
- less people bag the car... cause there's no 'personal taste' to pick on- just tame genuine factory lines wheels and colors!
- MUCH less likely to be canaried/epa'd etc once pulled over...
- people seem to have a 'soft spot' for sleepers
Cons:
- people think you have a crap, standard car. lol
for me - it's about how the car drives and feels - an appreciation of all those hand-assembled parts working together to form an awesome driving experience- Personally I don't really care whether people are gawking at me enjoying that experience or not

Sleeper for the win.

Both... i love a hot looking car... but at the same time i love the idea of a car that looks **** and goes like a mofo...
Its a tuff call really...
aZk.
Gotta love the sleeper![]()
I recon a fairly stock looking car with just subtle hints that something is up...
Like... all stock but lowered and say... an intercooler...![]()
Sleeper for sure.
Think Transformers when they pop Bumblebee's hood for the first time.....
^^^ Haha... loved how both the chick and the dude were basically not at all suprised to see that engine in there... lol
i totally agree with VN_LUKE on this one
but at the same time i love the idea of a car that looks **** and goes like a mofo...

Yes, my thoughts Exactly![]()
Easy question. Subtle is the key. Nothing says wanker than a car that promises so much with wild body kits and go fast "performance" stickers yet deliver so little on the race track.
Reaper
If a newer car, standout. If a old car, complete stock look but with good paint and overall good condition. Old clean cars are always going to turn more heads then a brand new car what you see about 50 times a day.

Sleeper lowered on some race wheels and dark tints ftw....
I do all my own stunts....
i would want a sleeper, lowered, rims, then all the money spent under the hood, and blo off every1 down the straight, in what looks like a bog standard car.

for a daily i think a bit of both. Some nice rims nothing massive though and lowered and some nice performance mods to boot. No stupid plates like i h8 fords etc etc. just stock plates stock kit and a not so stock motor
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
A bit of both. I don't like a standout car with standard interior, makes me think of `rice'. Then again, sleeper is a bit restrictive for the options I want on me ute. I guess at the end of the day its functional and it goes, that's all I care.
Mods:
- Clear headlights (Altezza)
- CAI, 8mm spiral coil spark plug leads
can i go one of each? i have a show and no balls but its very fun when ppl pull up and try to race , but not interested and now going to start a sleeper well try to make a 10sec sleeper and when i succeed the only thing that will stand out will be the plates 10SEC
I'm a bit of both. More subdued in looks nothing to overboard clean and nice. Engine can go overboard.
