is it diff or gearbox?

Hey I have a vs manta 5L and I think the diff is going on it. It seems to make a winding noise when im driving normally. some people have told me that it most likely the gearbox. But it seems to shift fine and hold the gears well and the noise really sounds like its coming from the back of the car.

my belt tensioner makes a whining noise because its warn, but thats at the front. Maybe get that checked?

my VN whines in 3rd, but thats it, if its whining in all gears, then its not likely to be the gearbox. Diffs do like the whine when they get fairly worn.

If the whine changes pitch with the speed, it's probably the diff. If it changes speed with RPM, it's the gearbox.

prettysure it would be the diff mate mine started to whine and then bang there it went,couldnt drive anywhere,get a mechanic to check it out dude.
