I've played this a fair bit on the PS3 the last few days, apart from it being rather unfished in areas:P (pretty obvious they needed it OUT NOW, before Forza came out so they didn't miss out on sales). But I rate it!. Above 9/10 from me. First NFS in decades that was any good, it was made by a different team (thankfully)

only 2 good proper racing games imo, gran turismo 3-4-5(prologe) and forza 2.... absolutely hate arcade style racing games, especially with the fake drifting modes like in nfs where the car magically handles totally different. forza 3 out soon .....if they wanted to make a racing game ppl would take seriously they shouldn't have labeled it under nfs

this one is different to previous NFS. i played it last night, with a keyboard though, but it was still a lot better that the previous ones. i agree with foam, and its not that bad so far, apart from long load times for everything. will test it out with a wheel tonight

so the driving style is realistic now? i generally play NFS games for the lack of reality. Speed breaker and regenerative NOS are the best inventions ever!

yeah its a bit better. its more race orientated anyway, like pro street, which sucks. i like undercover thhough, just for the random police chases. very nice crash effects in shift though

My first impression of NFS Shift on PC. (Demo)

    "meh"

I really didn't get a 'wow' factor, it drops framerate a bit more than I would like considering the overall visuals. And the handling doesn't feel right. Plus I just smashed a lotus elise into a wall @ 200kmph and all if got was a broken window and banged up front bar... lol!

Realistic driving and crash physics my butt!

Not OVERLY impessed but having said that, I will probably get it because I am fairly interested in the idea of upgrading adn modifying the racecar as I win money.

It's maybe not *quite* a sim but it's very close to it, nothing like any need for speed of the past, it shares the name only. I'm a die hard GT fan and have GT1/2/3/4 all prolouges and all demos ever released no matter how obscure so you can trust me on this . Shift is pretty good 9/10

I had it on full damage (I think), though I have noticed the setting seem to reset each time I start up the game and each time I have to turn off the stupid 'best line' assist.

The ONLY thing the car after the crash did was it pulled to the left, that was it...

    ahh ok...

I reckon EA's next NFS should be a 'MA15+' version...... like if you go into a wall at 200km the car just crumbles, blows up, person in the car burns alive and stuff. If you slam into a car it creates a massive explosion en stuff. Ok i've thought about this too much.

The Title can be: NEED FOR SPEED: BURN

The australian rating board would just ban it anyway

I don't go for this whole damage must be real story, I don't play racing games with the intention of hitting anything . If you hit the wall in shift your stuffed anyway, the pull to the left or right for all intent rules out the win

yeah spinning out and hitting something is hard to recover in this game, and the damage is pretty good either way. very impressed for a nfs game the more i play it. drift mode probably needs some improvement though. its way too easy to throw the car sideways.

well i got the game yesterday on ps3 and i love it great to see a choice of cars to pick at the beginning and im enjoying the cockpit view and the way cars handle but i can see why the drifting is hard but saying that its nothing a bit of practice can fix

Had another crack at it last night... still really not a fan of the handling... every car seems to understeer...

Like, Viper, full throttle through a tight corner and it understeers... even if I came into the corner under brakes and gunned it through the corner... suprisingly teh Skyline behaves the same way.

For the moment, I'll jsut blame it on I only have the demo and am using the keyboard... but this weekend, should have full version and will set up the Momo Wheel.

Then... final judgement will be passed!

Speed never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, now that's what gets you...

OK, fully version with the wheel properly set up... in the Datsun GT-R... pretty good fun. The handling now feels pretty good and combined with the fairly pretty graphics... I'm happy.

The steering wheel made all the difference in my case... it was bordering on un-playable just with keyboard.

yea mate it's a lot better than the previous NFS, if you hit the wall it really stuffs you up, nice and realistic if you have all assistance turned off

I got NFS: Shift when i bought the PS3 and it is a big change in how they make their games now which is good! I know it isn't only me wishing now that they would expand the number of cars available.. (240Z, R32, Commodores, Old european cars) Shouldnt be too hard..

Only thing that disappoints me with this game is the lack of customization available. I would kill to see NFS:U3 made for PS3/360. I love the track racing and realism but i am in love with street racing and the police chases etc etc

oh yeah and how about NFS: Nitro?
Anyone played a demo on that?
